He's just kind of here and out of place. Any idea as to where we may be able to ship him off to? Trade deadline may be more likely, but it doesn't hurt to canvass teams now, particulary if BC wants extra space under the cap (rather than using the amnesty now - could be kept aside for later).
Basically, as enjoyable as he is to watch, I think Barbosa would be better off elsewhere to be honest.
definitely agree. I'm not sure where we could send him though. Seeing as we don't really need the capspace now in this free agent class, but are better served having it next summer (or the summer after that), it may be better to just keep him on the roster and let him expire, unless if we can find a deal where we get some sort of pick/prospect back.
If Houston wants to save a bit of capspace, I'd do Barbosa for Flynn+Thabeet, but I don't see them going for it.
If any of last year's lotto teams wants to dump a contract along with their pick for Barbosa (something like pick + Biedrins/Gooden/CV for Barbosa?), I'd do that, but again, I don't see those teams going for it.
If the Nets want to continue to create capspace for a big free agent spending spree next summer, I think I'd do Barbosa for Outlaw+the Nets 2012 pick (it could also be the Rockets lotto-protected pick, but that could take a while to get). We land another 2012 talent in this draft (probably a late lotto to mid 1st rounder?). I would try to amnesty Outlaw soon after if we can, or if we're not allowed to do that, then cut Jose to keep our cap at the same level. This way we get two (hopefully) quality talents out of this draft, instead of taking a risk on a possibly bad draft class in 2013 if they institute a two-year rule. Of course the issue here is with a rich owner like Prokhorov they might just want to amnesty Outlaw and keep the pick, although having Barbosa as a viable scorer option could help keep Deron happy this year.
