Orlando isn't as desperate to unload Howard and would ask for quite the return in a trade with the Lakers, wanting Andrew Bynum and Kobe Bryant, according to an official familiar with Orlando's thinking who was not authorized to speak publicly. He appeared to be joking. Maybe.

I want to give Otis a high five right now.

I've got to say.....I've been doing a little bit of thinking of the D12 "where is his head at?" standpoint...

It seems to be that there's a few forces at work here.

1) He wants to win championships
2) He wants a bit of the limelight (movies, music, billboards, ads, etc)
3) He wants to not be Shaq/do something Shaq couldn't for Orlando
4) He wants to be "the guy" on his team

I think part of the reason Dwight isn't pushing to go to the Lakers, and he has said multiple times on Twitter than he either doesn't want to go there or hasn't ever asked to go there, is that he doesn't want to be seen as the next Shaq, AND he wants to be "the man" where he goes. He eats that up. I don't think it's just completely about winning (like Lebron/Bosh going to Miami or the big 3 assembling in Boston)....I think he wants to be the main guy where he goes. I think that's part of the reason he has never ever mentioned Chicago (with 2 of his best friends D-rose MVP, and Boozer - an obvious contender) or OKC (with prob the next MVP in Durant along with a lot of great young talent). It is because he wouldn't be "the man" in those places. Even if he teamed up with D-Will or CP3, he would still kind of be that guy, because they sort of play the role of facilitator more than superstar. So honestly, I think he wants to stay in Orlando, wants to win here, wants to be "the guy" that did that for this city, way more than he wants to just chase the big lights (he already got the most all-star votes, is in movies, ads, etc etc etc).....I just think he doesn't want to blow his prime on a team that has no shot. So I honestly believe that if we get anybody even remotely decent around him (Granger, Ellis, Iguodala, etc)....that he will def lean towards resigning. He just wants to know we have a legit shot each year, and last year's playoff round 1 exit is still leaving a bad taste in his mouth.

Just my thoughts.

This has one of the most bipolar threads in the Orl board since Dwight became a Magic. Love it

I think it'd be hilarious if Otis started asking for Rose, Bryant, etc... basically the cornerstone pieces of all these teams trying to get Howard... just straight up act like we're the big dogs for once and put them on notice... see how they like it

The Ellis move is the only viable one. I think Warriors hornets and magic need to get a 3 team trade going... we'll take on biedrens and maybe even okafor if someone will take hedo. We use our picks, jj, ryan, jrich, orton, anyone. Everyone wins.

and if someone starts to shoot it down... you threaten to trade dwight to LA for matt barnes and a bag of chips, and tell them to remember THAT would be the team anyone in the west has to go through.

We're not the only one getting a kick out of this

sportsguy33 Bill Simmons
Sources say Lakers targeting Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose and LeBron James. Dangling Luke Walton and Steve Blake as bait.

in all seriousness, I would think any of the fringe contenders out west would do anything they could to help keep lakers from getting dwight...

AlexKennedyNBA Alex Kennedy
Chris Paul and Dwight Howard situations are playing out very differently. Hornets trying to trade Paul vs. Magic trying to please Howard.

Well then... anyone else thinking the obvious? lol

Well, I think I'm off to bed. I'm sure there will be just as many highs and lows tomorrow.

So, to recap:

1)As of right now, we're trying to build a contender around Dwight.
2)Chris Paul will probably be traded in the next day or two.
3)BVW retired.
4)We're officially the most bi-polar and passionate fanbase EVAR.
5)Otis trolled the Lakers by demanding Kobe and Bynum in return for Dwight.
6)ESPN sucks.

The life of a Magic fan.
