I've got to say.....I've been doing a little bit of thinking of the D12 "where is his head at?" standpoint...
It seems to be that there's a few forces at work here.
1) He wants to win championships
2) He wants a bit of the limelight (movies, music, billboards, ads, etc)
3) He wants to not be Shaq/do something Shaq couldn't for Orlando
4) He wants to be "the guy" on his team
I think part of the reason Dwight isn't pushing to go to the Lakers, and he has said multiple times on Twitter than he either doesn't want to go there or hasn't ever asked to go there, is that he doesn't want to be seen as the next Shaq, AND he wants to be "the man" where he goes. He eats that up. I don't think it's just completely about winning (like Lebron/Bosh going to Miami or the big 3 assembling in Boston)....I think he wants to be the main guy where he goes. I think that's part of the reason he has never ever mentioned Chicago (with 2 of his best friends D-rose MVP, and Boozer - an obvious contender) or OKC (with prob the next MVP in Durant along with a lot of great young talent). It is because he wouldn't be "the man" in those places. Even if he teamed up with D-Will or CP3, he would still kind of be that guy, because they sort of play the role of facilitator more than superstar. So honestly, I think he wants to stay in Orlando, wants to win here, wants to be "the guy" that did that for this city, way more than he wants to just chase the big lights (he already got the most all-star votes, is in movies, ads, etc etc etc).....I just think he doesn't want to blow his prime on a team that has no shot. So I honestly believe that if we get anybody even remotely decent around him (Granger, Ellis, Iguodala, etc)....that he will def lean towards resigning. He just wants to know we have a legit shot each year, and last year's playoff round 1 exit is still leaving a bad taste in his mouth.
Just my thoughts.
