Hey guys, I've been a lurker for over a year but I just recently registered and this is my first post.
As you can tell from my username (though I erroneously registered as "BlackOut" instead of "BlackedOut," oops), I too cannot watch the games. I'm a DirecTV customer in Burlington, NC, and the games are blacked out both locally AND regionally. Long story short, I had known I couldn't see the games locally (I can watch the pre-game and then it blacks out at the tip), so I considered ordering League Pass. Well, lucky me, there was a free trial of it at the beginning of the year. So when the trial started, as I often do, I watched the pre-game on SportSouth until it blacked out (I don't know, hoping something magically changes I guess), and then decided to flip over to the League Pass channel.
Lakers game? Check.
Nets? Check
Rockets? Yep.
Kings, Spurs, Wizards, Clippers, Jazz. I can watch all of them, pretty cool.
Oh there's the Cats game: Blacked Out. What?!?!??? %$*#$^*%$!!!!!????! Apparently I live too close to see the game nationally, but not close enough to watch it locally. I can watch 29 teams...wow. I emailed DirecTV, though they didn't want to talk to me since I hadn't yet paid for League Pass. I persisted and they told me that the game was probably blacked out because they didn't sell enough tickets. Which I know is **** because I can go to my neighbor's house (about 30 yards from me) and watch the game since he has Time Warner. I told them this and they told me that they have nothing to do with blackouts and that it must be the network...and if that didn't work out I could always just listen to the radio.
So now I have decided to watch games online, though I'm a n00b and can never seem to find a good "pie." So if anyone ever feels led to point me in the right direction it'd be greatly appreciated. So there's my introduction/rant, love the site and hope I can add to the conversations.
