you've got it good jaruff. at least you can get games through league pass if you wanted to pay for it. some parts of sc/nc have no options.

That is true. I'm just surprised that GSP has so many problems when I'm 100 miles from Atlanta and I have access to most Hawks games (probably all of them if I bothered to look every night).

It's a problem I assumed would have been fixed by now.

Wow, so you're further from Atlanta than I am from Charlotte and you get all of the Hawks games and I get none of the Cats games. UGH! How 'bout down in Columbia, do they get them?

When they do a League Pass broadband free preview we get the games here but on the tv it shows up that the game will be on on the guide and then we get stuck with a In My Own Words marathon.

I'm not sure but I think so because I think Time Warner Cable is one of the main cable companies in Columbia.

I live less than an hour from the arena and go sometimes and have a ball at the games but don't make the kind of money to get season tickets or anything so it's frustrating.

If you have TWC in the triangle, you can watch the bobcats most times on the Special Events channel, they're just often not listed on the guide, so you have to know where you're looking.

My aunt and uncle live in Syracuse NY which is 250 miles from NYC and they get all the Knicks games. It just depends on the cable company and the demand for the service.

so in case this hasn't been pointed out yet, I tweeted at BobcatsBballPR and he got back to me for Raleigh people.

Apparently 1522 (or 1520 cant remember) in Raleigh is showing tonights game (and most/all? games this year? Not sure yet) in HD. Its a special event channel. This is a new HD channel.

Also, TWC has added 8 new HD channels for league pass and it looks like all games will now be shown in HD, compared to just 1 or 2 a night in previous years. So - I'm completely sold on that. And kudos to the BCats if all games are broadcasted in HD in Raleigh this season

Bobcats games on league pass are blacked out if you live in North or South Carolina, no matter what. Don't buy league pass, its a massive waste of money unless you live outside the Carolinas

Yep I know, same with NBATV in Raleigh. I just like getting league pass to follow some other good teams and players, so getting everything in HD now is clutch....along with hopefully all Bobcats games on a local channel

Update 1/10/2012

Now that the free league pass is over, I thought that I would no longer be able to watch the Bobcat games, but just for poop and laughter, I figured that I would check anyway, and lo and behold, the game is showing on Dish channel 440 SportsSouth Alt. Don't know if someone from management actually read this thread or listen to complaints, or realized that there were 1.2 million potential fans being ignored, but the game is on! Woo Hoo!!

Good News on the horizon?

Wall Street Journal ran this article today saying that the FCC is reviewing blackout rules.

"Federal regulators plan to consider whether it is time to dump rules that require cable and satellite TV providers to black out sports games if local teams don't sell out their arenas or stadiums."

Read the rest of the article here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142 ... 79514.html

And cross your fingers. This would be great>

Hey guys, I've been a lurker for over a year but I just recently registered and this is my first post.

As you can tell from my username (though I erroneously registered as "BlackOut" instead of "BlackedOut," oops), I too cannot watch the games. I'm a DirecTV customer in Burlington, NC, and the games are blacked out both locally AND regionally. Long story short, I had known I couldn't see the games locally (I can watch the pre-game and then it blacks out at the tip), so I considered ordering League Pass. Well, lucky me, there was a free trial of it at the beginning of the year. So when the trial started, as I often do, I watched the pre-game on SportSouth until it blacked out (I don't know, hoping something magically changes I guess), and then decided to flip over to the League Pass channel.

Lakers game? Check.
Nets? Check
Rockets? Yep.
Kings, Spurs, Wizards, Clippers, Jazz. I can watch all of them, pretty cool.

Oh there's the Cats game: Blacked Out. What?!?!??? %$*#$^*%$!!!!!????! Apparently I live too close to see the game nationally, but not close enough to watch it locally. I can watch 29 teams...wow. I emailed DirecTV, though they didn't want to talk to me since I hadn't yet paid for League Pass. I persisted and they told me that the game was probably blacked out because they didn't sell enough tickets. Which I know is **** because I can go to my neighbor's house (about 30 yards from me) and watch the game since he has Time Warner. I told them this and they told me that they have nothing to do with blackouts and that it must be the network...and if that didn't work out I could always just listen to the radio.

So now I have decided to watch games online, though I'm a n00b and can never seem to find a good "pie." So if anyone ever feels led to point me in the right direction it'd be greatly appreciated. So there's my introduction/rant, love the site and hope I can add to the conversations.

I actually had Time Warner up until about two years ago...it was basic 70 channel not digital. Switching to DirecTV was strictly financial, it's actually cheaper for me despite the better selection. Plus I now have NFL Network...so I figure I can just watch online.
