I really like what I'm seeing offensively this year, especially LeBron getting in the post more and actually making the most of our biggest advantage, our athleticism, by pushing the ball and forcing the issue, if a little to hard at time. In general our offense has come along in leaps and bounds, and while still not as consistent as I'm sure many of us world like in the half court set, we have at least proven we have some semblance of structure to fall back on.
Defensively, however, we have been lackluster at best. At times last season our defense was smothering for long periods if time, and while there has been glimpses of that this season there just seems to be a lack of effort, determination and fire consistently defensively. It may be my defensive mindset, but this really perturbs me, especially when I see guys generally being lazy, cheating on rotations and over helping on 3 point shooters. That last issue is a fundamental one with our defensive philosophy and is one I believe needs addressing as come the playoffs I don't want to be living and dying of the 3 ball percentage of the other team with the current state of affairs.
These are just a few thoughts from the games I've seen and will hopefully get into some more posting in the near future.
Cheers.
We're statistically speaking doing far better defensively this season than last. We're posting a 96.3 DRTG compared to last years 103.5 (Although the league average in D is far better than last year) We've also gone from 5th to 2nd best so even when looking league wide we're still doing better.

Speaking to this only... Why not? It's a 7 game series. You have to give up something. I'd rather give up the 3 point shot than anything down low. In our one loss Atlanta went 9-16 from 3 and beat us. Small sample size skews number and without that game opponents are shooting 35.4% against us from 3.
