How did Baron look?

He looked like an NBA point guard swishing nearly all of his jumpers. I was way upstairs in the new 100 section  so it wasn't the best view. But he looked sharp. Weber kind of stole the show. He really gets into those pregame shootarounds.

I don't think anybody's arguing that though TKF may be. I laid out 5 reasons why he might feel slighted and none of them were "the Melo trade".

"It's basically my fault out there. I'm taking all the blame for tonight's loss," he said. "I got into foul trouble. I didn't play many minutes in the first half. It definitely won't happen again."

"I was ready to rock," STAT said. "In the fourth quarter, I was telling myself, 'They can't keep a good man down.' So I was ready. I was amped up and ready to go in the fourth quarter. I figured in the fourth quarter it was time for me to really dominate, and that's what I started to do.

"But, again, it's my fault tonight. We lost the game because I got into foul trouble and it won't happen again."

"l'm still trying to figure it out," he said. "It's somewhat early, but I'm also trying to figure out my areas here in the offense. It takes a little time, but I'm staying with it, staying focused, staying confident and working through having a little bad stretch here, as far as basketball play. But I'm staying confident and continuing to work on my game.

"I worked extremely hard this summer, as hard as I've ever worked before. So I'm confident that the hard work will pay off."

I want to see Amare turn it around. Even though I'm not too keen on his passing and rebounding, I do like his intensity when his game is on though. I'm hoping he bounces back because he is a Knickerbocker, and I know he can do better and be better. We need to fire the coach though.

^ I'd probably have to agree with that - seeing Baron Davis swishing 3s and working out prior to the game was probably the best thing about the day.. He looks like he could go now if he wanted to.. So i'm confident it'll be sooner than later..... He also signed a bunch of autographs before leaving which was cool.

As for Amar'es post-game quotes - I can't help but feel they're coming more from an self-puffing acknowledgement that if he isn't playing well than the team won't win, rather than acknowledging that his play has been poor and he hasn't shown any emotion / drive this year.... It doesn't take understanding your spots or 'time' to play with energy.

His demeanor looked pretty unshaken, boarder line 'oh well', about his now pattern of foul woes during the game.

Baron should help Fields score in transition and in cuts to the basket.

he can help... Douglas/Fields/Shumpert will have less pressure to perform because most of the ball-handling responsibility will go to Davis. They will likely become more effective in their new roles of being support guys and finding niches on this team.

Also, if Chandler + Amare are rolling more, then 'Melo can play a more all-around game and the team can be tougher to defend, and therefore, tougher to beat. The positive momentum will effect the entire roster. Good play and winning basketball is contagious. Then with winning, comes confidence, and a little more confidence goes a long way with all players, especially rooks/young'ins.

Oh, there's no question a healthy BD helps Douglas and Fields a lot. For Douglas, it frees him up from having any pressure whatsoever to pretend he's a playmaker. He can settle into his strength which is creating his own shot. For Fields, it should help by facilitating some offense his direction. I mean, I anticipate if all goes well that the offense will flow much better and Fields can get back to his corner-three, crash-the-boards routine. The only time Landry looked like a phenom was when the offense was flowing and he got easy shots in rhythm. Hopefully BD can bring that back.

How about we call Stat's performance what it is for what it is, and not relate everything back to the Melo trade so we can talk about how we wish he would have "stood up for the young guys more" .. Stat's playing like **** and that's his problem.... That actually gives him too much credit, he's playing like **** which isn't letting him even play due to foul trouble...Get it right or ship him off... I don't care how much "attention" we gave Melo, what are we 10 years old?

Gotta agree with Knicker23. Amar'e is a grown ass man who WANTED this trade to go down.

Remember this video????

"I brought in Brooklyn's own, Carmelo Anthony, okay?"

So everything you see related to Amar'e's poor play has to do with Amar'e.

 I wish these guys stop with these videos....

Amare wont get into foul trouble again?

Looks like an open invitation for anyone and everyone to drive on him. He'll back away to avoid the foul as usual.

Well technically adding a player to the starting lineup that wasn't even on the roster does help the depth by definition.

But yeah, I agree, one more vet in the lineup will allow guys like TD and Fields who have been pretty heavily relied on to be able to find their grooves and not try and do too much, or be dependents of our success.... Hopefully Baron will get Fields looking like a player again, though who knows if that's even possible.

I think it'll help a lot of people once we can finally say 'this is who we are' and not 'who we will be until Baron is in the lineup' .. People will figure out how they fit in.. I think now a lot of guys are sort of waiting for counting down till he gets here..

Most of all, adding Baron allows us one more quality player to have on the floor when the starting lineup is broken up - aka when Melo and Amare are split up... Whether it's Amare and Baron now being the unit that takes the rest towards the end of the 1st and starts the second, or w/e.. I imagine that'll be based off who plays the best together... But that'll be big for Amare to actually have a guy like him to be on the court with to start every 2nd quarter instead of just scrubs - and it'll be good for the other guys too.... Same goes with Iman, it'd be nice to have either Iman or Baron in at any given time, for most of the game

Jorts Fields Jefferies Bibby TD Walker Novack isn't anything special, but it's better than them being in the starting lineup - all of which other than Novack have been at one point or another... I think as bad as most of them are currently playing, TD Fields especially, their roles as bench players I think can help them.... Maybe TD isn't as bad in small doses where we can pull him if he's off rather than rely on him... Perhaps Fields will take to being a spark off the bench with Jorts.. etc.
