but what about TD/Fields and the lack of depth on bench? baron doesnt help with that
he can help... Douglas/Fields/Shumpert will have less pressure to perform because most of the ball-handling responsibility will go to Davis. They will likely become more effective in their new roles of being support guys and finding niches on this team.
Also, if Chandler + Amare are rolling more, then 'Melo can play a more all-around game and the team can be tougher to defend, and therefore, tougher to beat. The positive momentum will effect the entire roster. Good play and winning basketball is contagious. Then with winning, comes confidence, and a little more confidence goes a long way with all players, especially rooks/young'ins.

Well technically adding a player to the starting lineup that wasn't even on the roster does help the depth by definition.
But yeah, I agree, one more vet in the lineup will allow guys like TD and Fields who have been pretty heavily relied on to be able to find their grooves and not try and do too much, or be dependents of our success.... Hopefully Baron will get Fields looking like a player again, though who knows if that's even possible.
I think it'll help a lot of people once we can finally say 'this is who we are' and not 'who we will be until Baron is in the lineup' .. People will figure out how they fit in.. I think now a lot of guys are sort of waiting for counting down till he gets here..
Most of all, adding Baron allows us one more quality player to have on the floor when the starting lineup is broken up - aka when Melo and Amare are split up... Whether it's Amare and Baron now being the unit that takes the rest towards the end of the 1st and starts the second, or w/e.. I imagine that'll be based off who plays the best together... But that'll be big for Amare to actually have a guy like him to be on the court with to start every 2nd quarter instead of just scrubs - and it'll be good for the other guys too.... Same goes with Iman, it'd be nice to have either Iman or Baron in at any given time, for most of the game
Jorts Fields Jefferies Bibby TD Walker Novack isn't anything special, but it's better than them being in the starting lineup - all of which other than Novack have been at one point or another... I think as bad as most of them are currently playing, TD Fields especially, their roles as bench players I think can help them.... Maybe TD isn't as bad in small doses where we can pull him if he's off rather than rely on him... Perhaps Fields will take to being a spark off the bench with Jorts.. etc.
