I don't share that view of Woj at all. He was really bad about my team (MIN), and seemed to misrepresent the facts he was handed.

Remember, these guys get paid by their viewership, and with so many fans, it's not surprising to see pro-Lakers, or pro-Knicks bias in their reporting of the facts. If you're not one of these teams, you have to be very skeptical of anything you read from a national news service, determining what is fact, and what is opinion.

eyriq wrote:Awesome article and I am very glad to hear advancement for the Don't Trade Dwight meme. Too much logic and sense supporting the Magic riding this out.

The Magic are good but that shouldn't be a surprise and if people were moderate about their view of Orlando they'd realize that we've not exceeded expectations at all, nor have we proven we are a tier one team in the East like Miami or Chicago, but are instead still teetering on the fringe between legit contender or dark horse. Now, should Nelson and JRich get going we are elevated into the top tier all othe thigngs staying the same, but the staying the same bit is a chemistry issue and who knows how'd that pan out. IMO there is a transition taking place in our teams player hierarchy, and until that gets settled I will remain uncomfortable. Probability tells me that Dwight wanting a trade will fade, that Nelson and JRich will trend back to the mean, that Redick and Anderson are legit, and that Hedo will be huge for us. All of this means we are contenders and a tier one team, but there is still issues to settle.

I agree with the stuff you said before the last couple of sentences. Here is what seems most probable to me:

-- Dwight keeps putting up 20/20 games on a regular basis, lets his trade demand stand until the deadline, and refuses to talk about it after that. Then in the off-season I see the chances as 33% that he leaves, 33% that he extends with us, and 33% that he picks up the option for the last year of his current contract and we do this all over again next year.

-- Nelson eventually gets back to playing well against teams with weak defensive PGs and continues to struggle against the Kirk Hinrichs of the world. If nothing else, his shooting touch has to come back at some point.

-- J-Rich gets back to being a high-quality spot-up shooter that does little else of value.

-- JJ continues to develop as a complete offensive player. My hope (though not really an expectation for this year) is that once he gets really confident in his playmaking, his perimeter shooting percentages will jump from "good" to "elite." In any event, JJ's ability to develop into a guy who can create against good defenses is key to our chances to compete.

-- Ryan averages around 15ppg across the length of the season, giving us solid meat-and-potatoes scoring for three quarters but frequently disappearing in 4th quarters.

-- Turk does not sustain the kind of productivity we've seen thus far this season. He's just not fit enough to maintain that level of play for more than a few weeks at a time.

So, I'm slightly less optimistic than you, eyriq, but still not a doom-and-gloomer. I definitely would rather get one last year of competing with Dwight than trade him for anything less than what NOLA got for CP3 (which I judge to be way better than the original trade that got nixed).

It seems as if the bucks are looking to amnesty sjack should we still try and get him before bucks fans wanted redick and orton for jack and Brock but with the way weve been playing I'm not sure if I'd do it and his attitude this season has been kinda divaish would this make dwight stay now having two of his players that he wanted us to get I'd rather send rich than redick

Nelson/
Jrich/
Sjack/
Ryno/
Howard/

Pretty good defensively

i could easily see SJax destroying the chemistry the team is showing right now. It would be different if he was an elite defender, but he isnt.

anyone else tired of hearing what "Dwight" wants? he wants to go to brooklyn with deron he wants to play with gasol and blah blah blah. The nba should have severe penalties for players like dwight who just want to gravy train to a big market where they can make more money and have a shot at winning titles. I mean it's bs..you want to play with gasol? so what dwight. Take your 30 million dollar hit in the offseason and see if LA can sign you outright. Or go lose with deron...
I got a question why they hating on me....

So the NBA should hand a penalty to dwight becasue some writer said that acoording to nobody dwight demanded to be traded to a certain team but not for a certain player?

These writers dont know much, they have their sources but Im sure a lot of the times they speculate and make stuff up until one of them flukes into an actual real story and than he gains credibilty.

So where is Hedo on this team? Plus I don't like what J-Rich brings on defense, line-up should be Nelson-Jax-Hedo-Ryno-Howard, real tall line-up from SG - C.

J-Rich needs to kick rocks.....Too inconsistent and virtually brings nothing to the table that Redick can't emulate

should we take a risk on JR smith and trade jason richardson? We could move redick to the starting lineup and have jr come off the bench. i doubt the nuggets want to bring him back and i think we could sign him for our mle. 5 mil? trade jrich for another big.

I was watching the Knicks game last night and Amare at one point took off his goggles and looked into the camera. He looked old. Grey beard hair and just old. I would never trade for him.

griffin or marshon+lopez+high 1st round picks. those are the only deals i would consider. let LA keep bynum and gasol and rot into mediocrity. Bynum will never be able to carry a team and gasol is long in the tooth.

It would be Blake+Deandre+Eric Bledsoe for Dwight+Ryan Anderson.

i'd take tha gamble that he'd suck it up if he were on a contender.

JRich + Clark + Duhon + Liggins/Harper + protected picks for SJax + Livingston

you could possibly explore a 3-way, with JRich going to Memphis for Mayo, Mayo going to Milwaukee. that way the Bucks get some young talent, but he's expiring if they choose not to pick up his option.

unfortunately i don't think the Bucks will wait til March to move SJax. but, that deal would make a big enough difference to us to warrant it, in terms of having a solid back up to Hedo (he's going to need rest in this busy schedule), a semi go-to scorer (Jackson can still put it up), and a PG with legit court vision.

in fact, i think Livingston would actually be the best piece to come out of this deal. Livingston could make a great tandem with Dwight in a Hedo like role.

Dwight
Ryan/BBD
Hedo/SJax
JJ/VW
Meer/Livingston

there are so many potential lineups in that mix that could create some great mismatches in terms of height. imagine Livingston/SJax/Hedo on the wings!!! that's some serious length!

I would be all for it. S-Jax and Livingston for J-Rich+Duhon as the main trade pieces? That would be a great trade for us. We can get a back-up PG (who's ridiculously tall and can play 3 positions) and a hard nose vet. like S-Jax that can start at the 2 or back-up Hedo off the bench. I like your idea of the potential mismatches we can use as wel.

Bucks wouldn't make that trade. There would have to be more incentive. Replace Duhon with Clark and they may bite.

I'm a huge fan of Livingston and his game at PG. He's worked hard to get back after that horrific injured several years ago
