His offensive game appears to be light years ahead of where it was just last year.

We already heard about Biyombo's amazing rate of improvement but damn... this is really incredible!

Congratulations on your draft pick! Please play him :)

Can anyone explain why not? :-?

Um, maybe this is the best Biz possible right now and Silas doesn't want to show his cards too much lest other teams figure out how to play him for the rest of the season. I dunno, I'm advocating devilishly.

of course i am banking on kemba being able to play pg at some point.

that being said, its painfully obvious that brooks was grossly underrated on draft day. no way he should have dropped to 25.
True dat. He was at the head of my draft board before we traded up for Biz.

My pregame thoughts, kemba played better, dja is gone for who knows how long with a nagging toe and Bismack did work, Hendo also just missed hitting his scoring average, we just lost!

Its baffling how teams ignore a player like Brooks. He man handles everyone he faces in pre draft workouts but then gets flack for being too old (i.e. 22) and passed over for lesser players.

Bass and I were both big advocates for selecting him with our first pick before we traded into the top 10, then taking vucevik, jordan hamilton or BPA with the second pick.

I think when its all said and done, Brooks will have had a better career at the 2 spot then Hendo.

so it looks like I missed another stinker. No loss I guess.

Although I do like watching my man Mexicat play.

Good to see BB keep up his solid play. Just need to keep those fouls down.

Is Dj going to be out with the injury?

It was just another one of those games where we got down double digits and lacked the firepower to do anything about it.

not sure if serious, Brooks has very little upside, and isn't athletic at all, so I don't see him getting any better then he is right now, he already has high BB IQ, so its not like hes 'raw'. Hes basically the Landry Fields of last year, he'll come back to earth soon enough. His stats are also inflated because hes the 2nd option on a very very bad team with one of the best PG's in the league dishing to him

Uh, yeah of course I would. According to Nets fans, Brooks is the 2nd coming of Kobe  :

Their Marshon Brooks thread is pretty funny, Kobe and Paul Pierce comparisons thrown around like confetti.

^ that post was obviously sarcastic. No Nets fan actually thinks he will be Kobe.

Thanks for reminding all about our wisdom and foresight dmutumbo. Brooks is a very good player, and would have been a great part of a trade down-double picks opportunity with the 9th pick. Not sure I'd trade Kemba straight up for him now, as Kemba has more upside potential, BUT, Brooks is certainly the better player at this time. Kemba must develop PG skills and seriously polish his shooting to get anywhere close to his draft position value.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

How do the rest of the Bobcats fans feel about this? As offensively polished Marshon Brooks seems to be, I don't think I would make this trade. I think Brooks is very close to his ceiling, and can be shut out with the right matchup. Henderson has a much higher ceiling, imo, and is a much better defender. I don't put too much into Brooks getting the better of Henderson at the very end of the game since Henderson was clearly gassed and basically dared Marshon to shoot. Prior to that, Henderson was guarding D-Will and held him to 0 points while marking him. Aside from those 6 points for Brooks at the end of the game, no other player on the Nets scored a point on Henderson. If anything, I'm questioning why the hell Kemba (who is about 6'0) was guarding Brooks (who is about 6'7) for most of the game, which resulted in a couple easy post up buckets.

i would not trade hendo for brooks. you dont have to run a single play for hendo for him to make an impact on the game. he will eventually be a great 3rd or 4th option on a playoff level team, either with us or somewhere else.

Brooks is more advanced offensively than Henderson will ever be and is a much better ball handler. Brooks definitely isnt in the same class as Kobe but its easy to see where the comparisons come from in terms of Brook's offensive talent. The guy is no slouch on defense either and is an under rated passer.

We really could have benefited from his scoring.

No matter how much Jordan tutors Henderson, there's only so much progress that can be made as hendo is a shooter/slasher. Brooks understands angles and has the same inert offensive instincts that Jordan did and would have been able to benefit alot more from MJ's knowledge.

Hendo's a good player in his own right but I see Brooks making an allstar team or two before its all said and done.

The guy is 22 years old. He's going to be in the league playing at a high level for at least a decade. The Nets you see today wont be the same Nets team on the floor 3 years from now. And its also entirely possible he is traded elsewhere at some point.

Look at the pace at which Shon plays at though. He doesn't play rushed, he LOOKS at the defense, reacts then makes his shot. Everything is smooth and poised, he doesn't let the big stage phase him. That is pure veteran style right there. He's got a wide arsenal of moves, fakes and counters that Hendo can only dream of, and his handles are a level above Hendo too.

Look at that play @ 32secs...**** sick. Kobe move. This kid is going to be an All Star no doubt about it. And he is more advanced than Hendo offensively, there's no denying that.

I knew i should've picked him up off the wire, just wasn't sure he'd get the minutes.
