Unfortunately the Clippers don't really have a great deal to offer and Bledsoe isn't particularly desirable from our perspective. I'm not sure what could be done to accommodate a Young-to-LA trade but it might have to involve finding another team to offer up something more interesting.
Yeah, I'd be a bit worried about our lineup with Young gone. Let's face it, this team can't win a game unless Young scores a ton from the SG spot. Without Young here, things would get really bleak. I'm all for tanking, but things would get downright depressing if we end up 10-56 or something awful like that.
I might consider it a bit closer to the Trade Deadline. And I like it a lot better if Bledsoe was flipped for some other young prospect at a position of need.
I don't care if we don't win another game this year if we can make a deal to improve our long term prospects. Wall and Booker can handle it. Crawford has been decidedly less sucky and could handle some more SG minutes. Sprinkle in a bit more of Evans and Mason, a bit of a Wall-Mack back court, and a D-league call-up who can stroke the J, and we may even finish 11-55.
Larry Bird made a really interesting comment in his podcast with Bill Simmons -- this AND next year's draft are supposedly weak in terms of PG's, so if you have a good point guard you should keep him. If we can get Bledsoe -- an asset with upside who may bring value back in a trade -- for Young, we should pull the trigger instantly. Bledsoe would likely get dealt again on draft night or over the summer, which is fine by me. Maybe he's part of a package to get us another 1st rounder or something.
Young may just allow the trade to go play for a hot team in his home town.
That said, I'd expect the Clips to just try to sign JR Smith outright before giving up an asset to rent Young before he hits free agency.
