OT: Super Bowl XXXII
For a long time I have wondered how/why we lost this game.
I recently got a copy of the game in its entirety, and am going to go back and watch it this weekend. I like going back and watching old games to see how/why we lost/won. It gives me a better sense of X's and O's/momentum/turning points etc, that I'm not able to see watching it just once.
Anything I should look for specifically?
Should I post what I find - would anyone care?

All I remember about that game is crying my eyes out and smashing a plastic watch.

Re: OT: Super Bowl XXXII
From what I remember the Packers lost this game because they couldn't stop Denver from from running the ball. Gabe Wilkins tweaked his knee and wouldn't go back into the game even though other Packer players were begging him. Darius Holland was brutal at DE and Denver ran it down Green Bay's throat. Coincidentally Wilkins was a free agent after the season.
If only Sean Jones wouldn't have hurt his back in the off season he might have returned for the 1997 season instead of retiring. Jones wasn't that much of a pass rusher anymore, but he was very good against the run.

Wilkins didn't go back in the game for fear of hurting his impending FA stock.
I also heard Holmy refused to go max protect to guard against Denver's blitzes.
I'll probably watch it tonight, I'm really curious. I have a lot better knowledge of football now, as opposed to just a few years ago even, let alone since 1998.

I'm still bitter about this, we should've won this game. Thanks for bringing it up WB.

I thought the game was going to be a blowout after the Freeman TD catch...

All I know is Dorsey Levens admitted that Holmgren was doing everything he could to make sure Favre got the MVP even if it meant abandoning the run which was working.

I don't think it was about Favre getting MVP. I think it was Holmgren being too pompous and stubborn to admit that his gameplan has weaknesses that required more guys to stay back in protection.

I don't think that is a rumor anymore. Chuey pretty much confirmed that one on his radio show this season.

More than one Packer on that team admitted that they took the Broncos too lightly and thought the game was going to be a cakewalk.
