I can't say that I'm not disappointed. I was tossing and turning on the idea that I wanted us to add JR Smith when we still had Chauncey. When he went down, it became an easy decision for me to want JR on the team.
I think there were a few factors that influenced his decision to go to the Knicks. He is from Jersey, so he'll basically be back home. The Knicks had more money to offer. Linsanity definitely played a huge part in this. They have strung together 7 straight Lins despite having injuries to Melo, Stoudemire and Davis. Now they're back at .500 in the 8th seed with more victories on the way. JR gets the opportunity to play on the biggest stage (MSG) with the most hype and make more money along the way. Had they not gone on a 7-game Linning streak (and stayed in the hole they were in), then perhaps he would have chosen us.
I don't know much about Jermaine Taylor at all except that he was with the Rockets not too long ago. We need a 2/3 that can defend both positions and spread the floor. Our assets include expirings (Foye, Cook), Bledsoe, $3.83M TPE and a $2.75M TPE. March 1st is the day that over 100 players will be eligible to be traded and we will see movement. Players may be bought out or waived as well. I hope Neil has done his homework and is working the phones.
