1) What does having a black president have to do with being racist against Asians? "I'm not sexist. I treat all men equally. Those bitches better be in the kitchen cooking and cleaning though."
2) What the hell does the headline have to do with Jeremy Lin besides the fact that he's Asian? Does anyone here actually know what "chink in the armor" means?
if someone or something which seems to be strong has a chink in their armour, they have a small fault which may cause them problems
First link with a definition from Google. Can someone explain what the article said his flaw was? He played the same way he always played so any "first" chink in the armor was imaginary. The only thing he did first was lose and anyone who thinks that's a valid flaw is an idiot. Oh, and by the way, who uses "chink in the armor" in everyday conversation? I'll tell you who doesn't: the vast majority of America.
3) Chink is equally offensive to many Asians as the N word is to African Americans. If you're Asian and not offended by it, good for you. I know black people who aren't offended by the N word either. That doesn't mean it's okay. I don't care about Chink, but that doesn't mean that it's not racist. Whatever Asian dude said "it's okay to say chink because Chinese people say it to each other"- that sounds like a good argument to call African Americans the N word. If you're another minority and you don't particularly care about this issue because it doesn't affect you- you're giving a pass to racism and you shouldn't expect anyone to support you or care when someone calls you the n-word or spick or wetback or whatever else is out there. Calling minorities by some other name is a way to de-humanize them and separate them from what we all are- people.
4) I don't particularly care about Jeremy Lin and I don't think he's super amazing since I value actual point guard skills from my point guards (and 8-9 TOs a game doesn't cut it) BUT he HAS broken records (including one headlined by Shaq and Dominique Wilkins) so to say the hype is unwarranted is pretty stupid. The guy can score and he can carry a team. That being said, it's kinda stupid to hate on people for being happy that Lin is succeeding. Well unless you're also going to hate on African Americans for being happy that Obama was elected President...
