 Too good

The irony of this train of thought is delicious

Guess it's just a coincidence that ESPN happened to use a phrase containing a word that has an alternate derogatory meaning for a specific race, talking about a player who just so happens to be of that same race

Agreed. She's the worst. The "Ann Coulter" of comedy.

Better than Whitney Cummings.

I also think comedians are great only when they explore racism, sexism, etc. that's why Chris Rock, Patrice O'Neal, etc were so funny. They didn't just talk about race but they talked about women/men relationships.

it is true, my mom and her friends look down at other races as a whole, but everybody likes asians because we are never mean or show with our racism, unlike rednecks and yuppies, we are just nice and polite to everybody.

asians can really careless about racist remarks, because we don't feel like we need to prove anything to anybody else, unlike black people and latin people.

Much like "Gook", The word 'Spic" can be used to immediately and humorsouly insult anyone who looks like they might be a "Spic".

Mamba Venom wrote:Racism police need to stop. We have a black president. The majority of America is NOT racist. Bring back Monday Night Football song. I don't care if everyone is politically correct.

1) What does having a black president have to do with being racist against Asians? "I'm not sexist. I treat all men equally. Those bitches better be in the kitchen cooking and cleaning though."

2) What the hell does the headline have to do with Jeremy Lin besides the fact that he's Asian? Does anyone here actually know what "chink in the armor" means?
if someone or something which seems to be strong has a chink in their armour, they have a small fault which may cause them problems

First link with a definition from Google. Can someone explain what the article said his flaw was? He played the same way he always played so any "first" chink in the armor was imaginary. The only thing he did first was lose and anyone who thinks that's a valid flaw is an idiot. Oh, and by the way, who uses "chink in the armor" in everyday conversation? I'll tell you who doesn't: the vast majority of America.

3) Chink is equally offensive to many Asians as the N word is to African Americans. If you're Asian and not offended by it, good for you. I know black people who aren't offended by the N word either. That doesn't mean it's okay. I don't care about Chink, but that doesn't mean that it's not racist. Whatever Asian dude said "it's okay to say chink because Chinese people say it to each other"- that sounds like a good argument to call African Americans the N word. If you're another minority and you don't particularly care about this issue because it doesn't affect you- you're giving a pass to racism and you shouldn't expect anyone to support you or care when someone calls you the n-word or spick or wetback or whatever else is out there. Calling minorities by some other name is a way to de-humanize them and separate them from what we all are- people.

4) I don't particularly care about Jeremy Lin and I don't think he's super amazing since I value actual point guard skills from my point guards (and 8-9 TOs a game doesn't cut it) BUT he HAS broken records (including one headlined by Shaq and Dominique Wilkins) so to say the hype is unwarranted is pretty stupid. The guy can score and he can carry a team. That being said, it's kinda stupid to hate on people for being happy that Lin is succeeding. Well unless you're also going to hate on African Americans for being happy that Obama was elected President...

hmm...you know i can believe it just slipped out of someone's mouth cause in the proper context it isn't meant to be a racial slur, but for the people typing up the headlines or the stuff that appears on the screen. They need to know better and I won't believe it was an innocent mistake.

you guys all sit here and make efforts to analyze political correctness in racism, but the fact of the matter, which even I hate to admit because I have friends of all races, is that racism is embedded in our DNA. It takes a rational person to step above all of it, and focus on living within harmony between all races. Will there always be people who make these mistakes? Of course. But it's how you react to these incidents that makes you who you are.You guys all act offended by this, yet many of you have started tangent arguments that are much more offensive and derogatory than the original ESPN head line... "my mom is asian and she thinks we're better than everyone"....well, kiddo, that's what we call a shallow person, who will never be at peace with themselves. Jealousy will cause people to place themselves on a high horse.

Man, I'm glad I don't get offended easily. I can't imagine functioning in the real world where when someone says something that's political incorrect, I'd get my panties in a bunch. I think espn used an idiom, and it was a coincidence. They used it before. I hate groups like Peta, Glaad, etc. who demand a formal apology or the person getting fired for inconsequential and non-pc things they say. I see it on these forums too, when a player tweets something even the slightest bit controversial, some people turn into the queen of hearts.

as a white man, I'm pretty sure we already consider ourselves superior to other race but now days we express it through ways that only we could understand, so it never becomes an issue any more.

We used to be pretty bad at it though.

as a white man, you're opinion makes me sick. I don't see my self superior to anyone. You are responsible for your own destiny, and if you choose to sit here and see everyone else "eye to skin" instead of "eye to eye"...than I feel very sorry for you.

Hey idiots...Lin is Chinese...the term chink in the armor might not be racist but that was used in the headline and that idiot sports center guy used it too talking about Lin who like I said is Chinese...ya f ucking idiots need to know this was used as a racial insult secretly cause ESPN know nothing would happen to them cause they'd just use an excuse that the term wasn't racist
