I think we might still squeak into the second round, but honestly we should blow up this core, even if it means we have to package Josh with Joe Johnson for cap flexibility and even a single good young prospect.
First, we need to find out why we're so dead out there. With Joe out, any "ego players" we have should have taken this as their call to shine. Any "team first" guys should have stood up to work harder. Any "show me the money" guys should have seen a chance to pad their stats. Instead ... nothing. We just trudge downcourt.
It's amazing that we just sleep-walk through games. Nobody moved fast, even our speedy PG. It's as if they're suffering through their very own Bataan Death March ... or they're condemned men walking to the electric chair.
I am all for going after guys when they deserve it, but who was out there sleep walking? They made 2 runs during this game, got it down from 30 to 15 and 27 to 13. I actually cut them a little slack for this considering the circumstances. Was it winnable yes, everyone is, but I don't think they were sleep walking or laid down.
