the paint is really a lot more crowded this year than it was last year though . . . amar'e got better spacing than any star other than dwight last year. plus felton got him the ball farther away from the basket so he could be on the move. now you see lin, tyson, and amar'e all crowded together under the basket. tyson doesn't get blocked much because he's usually the tallest/longest player on the court, but it's tough for amar'e when there are 3/4 defenders in there with him.
I'm not trying to delude myself here about Amar'e--he definitely isn't moving as well as last year--but there are circumstances surrounding his play. the quality of his looks are completely different than they were last year.

All four of us.
Five. Been saying it from Day 1. He'll be fine.
I counted you.

also, amar'e is the only player in the history of the nba who thinks it's a good idea to face-up on the low post. seriously, who does that. it's a lot easier to get space if you put your butt into your defender, amar'e . . .
if amar'e were to start posting up, 1, 2 possessions a game whenever he has a small forward guarding him in the low post, I would be so happy.

I think he's just making excuses. If he didn't play basketball for the whole lockout almost then why wasn't it being reported? It was just being reported that he has back issues nothing about no basketball activity.
I still believe in STAT and that he'll turn it up, but excuses coming from stars just bother me sometimes.

that is a terrible idea. His moves are going around the player with his first step or taking the jumper.

Fair points and I agree with the spacing, but he is claerly not getting the same lift period, and thats affecting his ability to get off his shot. That affects his game. I remember him straight for a midrange jump shot this season and just having his shot thrown right back in his face. Thats just him not getting lift plain and simple.

He needs to hook up with the Dream this summer and learn some post moves for next summer.

Re: Amare finally addresses lack of explosion / poor play
considering his knee "thing" i have no idea why he added on weight in the first place.
i learned how to post up by the time i was 12. to think that a professional basketball player, much less a frontcourt player doesn't or can't sounds ridiculous to me. i just don't understand it.

So if Stat is in a confessional mood can we get him to acknowledge that he's a poor defender even when healthy?
