Nothing's changed in Phoenix: Suns still not trading Steve Nash unless he asks for it, sources say. And he won't.

I fear that the Magic may make no moves at all.

 Seriously, if we don't make any moves at all we might as well trade Dwight... cause we're going to lose in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs, unless we get lucky, with this team as currently constructed... and Dwight would just leave anyway... unless he opts into his final year.

I'd rather have Lopez/Brooks/draft picks and maybe flip Lopez for another player(s) than just trade for Ellis (and I'm a huge fan of Ellis)... a Ellis for Dwight swap is the worst trade ever... but if we're getting Ellis AND Dwight is still on the Magic, then I'm all for the trade obviously

I agree.

I honestly don't think it's THAT hard to do. If you DO decide you have to trade Dwight, why wouldn't all teams do something like:

MAGIC OUT: Dwight, Hedo, Duhon, JRich/JJ, Jameer (completely rebuild)
MAGIC IN: Monta, Brooks, DLee, Okur, Farmar, Wright + NJ 1st

GSW OUT: Monta, DLee, Wright
GSW IN: Jameer, JRich/JJ, Lopez, Petro

(I know everyone is gonna act like they'd never do this but they definitely want a 7-ft big....Lopez is one of the few on the market) + they get a great backup PG in Meer, a great shooter in JRich/JJ

NJ OUT: Brooks, Lopez, Okur, Petro, Farmar, NJ 1st
NJ IN: Dwight, Hedo, Duhon

We get Okur's expiring, since we are going to have to pay Ryan anyways if we want to keep him, that helps offset that.

So we would be left with:

Monta/Farmar
Brooks/JJ/Wafer
Wright/Q/Liggins
Ryan/BBD/Earl
Lee/Okur

plus we would still have the MLE to use, as well as NJ 1st pick, which should be pretty good. Lot of flexibility in that lineup. Have some very tradeable pieces...a nice pick...a much better backup PG. Of course that frontcourt is soft, but more than likely it will be if we have to move Dwight anyways.

If we let Okur and JJ go during the summer, you would have a bit of caproom as well. FA class sucks this summer though.

Exactly. The thing I don't want to see is the Magic FO make a pitch to Dwight in the offseason that this current roster will get it done for him. Improve team/trade Dwight or bust

JRich and Jameer might be our garbage, but they're both above average NBA players and I think executing such a trade turns Washington from a perennial bottom feeder to a legitimate fringe playoff team.

I won't press the issue further, and I realize it'd never happen, but I think if Washington is serious about rebuilding and not just collecting T-6 draft picks every season, they at the very least consider trading their pick from two years ago (who will surely bolt at first opportunity) for an entire starting lineup of established veterans and a fairly high probability of selling some playoff tickets.

Washington isn't trading Wall for Ryno. Also, they could've amnesty Lewis if they didn't want him.. So, Hedo isn't worth more to them than Rashard.

I think they didn't amnesty him because they can just wait and amnesty him if/when there is a free agent they want/think they can get. Doesn't make all that much sense to amnesty him just for the sake of it if it doesn't gain them much. $20mil a year for a guy not to play with little gain of doing so isn't smart business. We only did it because of luxury tax issues. We would've had to pay Gil like $35 mil to play this year.

It doesn't make sense to just have a ton of caproom (like they would've) without a bigger real plan in place. When that happens, you end up artificially overpaying guys because you feel like you "have" to spend your caproom. Who was WAS really going to go after if they amnestied Shard this year? Hell, I'm not even sure it makes much sense for them to do it next year either unless they have a free big name free agents they are going to go after (and there aren't many outside of D-Will/Dwight). If you really look at WAS's situation, they are aligned PERFECTLY for the Summer 2013. They'll have a bunch of young talent on smaller contracts, and then have almost every single contract as a team option that summer, giving them the ability to make a huge splash if they want to team up with guys like Wall, Mcgee, Young. Hell, they could end up with a team like:

Wall
Young
Iguodala
JSmoov
Mcgee

with bench guys like Vesely, Blatche...

That's a pretty tough team. EXTREMELY athletic and some real real good defenders. Man, that's kinda nasty just looking at it.

What happened to all the optimism about dwight staying? I say the fo pulls out a trade from left field that no one here has even thought about.

No reason to get emotional about rumors coming up...then fading away..that's the nature of you know, rumors. Nothing happens until it happens (or doesn't) anyway.

Yeh, to be honest....what's this whole notion of us "not ever doing anything". We've pretty much traded more than ANYBODY the past 4 years or so. Has anybody actually made more trades in the league than Otis? I mean that, has ANYBODY? I would doubt it. The moves might not always work, but we don't just "not do anything"...

I'd rather expect no trades and be surprised than expect trades and be disappointed. Also...

@DaTrillStak5 (Stephen Jackson)
If u call wanting to earn your money and wanting to win a"Headcase" then I'm that. Been a great teammate for 12 yrs. Ask anyone. Last two teams I have been on I was a big part in getting them to the playoffs. How soon u all forget. I will remind u soon. Gods Work.

True true... I was just alluding to last year's deadline when there was false rumors of the Magic trading for ZBo or Josh Smith and we all got excited over it... and the deadline passed with nothing happening. That's all.

Been discussed in detail....I have to say, I'm pretty sure if we decide we are dealing Dwight to NJ....a 3rd team will def be involved to get us another quality vet/star. So far we have been linked to GSW with Ellis, POR with Wallace, PHL with Iggy....so I'm pretty sure that's management's plan if we do end up sending him to NJ.

The one thing that seems odd to me though, is that supposedly GSW is willing to give up Monta+pieces to "rent" Dwight (with many indications pointing he won't stay there)....but they aren't willing to take back some of our good pieces for Monta straight up? Kinda bizarre...
