I have that same bad feeling in my stomach about acquiring Ellis. I actually see him coming in here posting subpar scoring numbers on mediocre efficiency trying to fit into this offense and being put on a short leash. Then at that point we get back to debating on whether or not this is on Stan or if Ellis just sucks. I don't see us having those same issues with Nash. He's the kind of guy SVG would trust right off the bat.

There used to be a time when Steve Francis was irreplaceable and then the Westbrooks and D Roses came.
There used to be a time when Gilbert Arenas was replaceable and then he blew it up.
Ryan is not as easily replaceable as one might think. I don't think he's going to be great but even for superstars, very few are speedy rebounding shooters. It's a deceptively unique toolset. Not something that looks special on the surface but definitely one of the few styles that age well like wine especially since Ryno is on the smaller side unlike say Vladimir Radmanovic. Another clue is his development. Not many players can develop out of nowhere with that toolset. It's an anomaly on par with the Chris Mullins and the Detlef Schrempfs doing better than expected in the league.
Ellis on the other hand is the opposite. Before he was irreplaceable, he was expendable. Then like KMart, he sacrificed part of his game to be different (but on the opposite side of the aisle), to be more aggressive and turned his game into something that was closer to Allen Iverson at point but one where he can't sustain it for long even today. He needs GS system. Without GS' system he'll slowly turn into a shorter Corey Magette unless he finds a shooting touch but then that's still just JRich level shooting and he'll lose his aggressive drives once he adopts this.
I can't believe I am agreeing with you after as much we disagreed in the other thread. But you are dead on here.
Monta Ellis is a good player, but some people are treating him like a legit star. He just isn't THAT good. You just don't trade three good players for him and expect all your problems to be solved. He may help in some areas, but you are creating new holes and problems.

I'm not so sure. SVG has said before the reason he runs the offense he does is because of the players he has at his disposal. Most of them are role players who make the open 3. With someone like Ellis on the roster, I'm sure he'd be given more freedom, we haven't had a guy like that with SVG yet. I'm damn sure SVG knows what Ellis can do and isn't going to restrain him.

Thompson isn't that good he barley plays
Casspi might be the worst starter in league
And the Cavs had the worst record in the league last year and now there floating around the 8th seed..wizards weren't even the worst team when they got walk and he hasn't done anything in 2 years
So yes Cavs have worse teammates

Ryno is fools gold. A product of every C/PF too worried about Dwight that he gets open looks...
The Celtics are a team we met early on in the season that plays Dwight strait up, and you know how that worked out? Ryan = 0 for 8....... The playoffs will be played in a similar style.
