You do realize Shaq and Barkley were the GMs right??? Shaq had 4 or 5 PGs.....

What's ur point? Wall was picked 12th!! He sucks. I could tell right from Kentucky he wasn't gonna be good in the league. Kyrie however is so much quicker and smarter and can actually shoot. He knows how to win games as well

Why are New Jersey fans invading this board to make up for the fact that as the days progress, it's becoming more likely that D-Will goes to Dallas?

What this team really needs is someone who can run pick and rolls with Dwight to perfection, find open shooters and hit threes himself. Jameer just isn't good enough at this anymore. But there is a certain PG who may be available, who fits this need down to the T. But even then I'm skeptical of trading Ryan Anderson. He is way more valuable to us than people realize. It isn't easy to find a player with the shooting and rebounding ability he brings to the table. Not to mention he is 23 and on a solid contract.

Like I said to jjtreyball. Agree to disagree cause we're clearly not changing each others opinions. and, I'd rather be happy about the possibility of acquiring Ellis than arguing with people....

Ryno is untouchable. Even for Ellis. Anyone but Ryno and Dwight.

First of all, with that logic... Josh Smith isn't an all-star... which he clearly was this season... he got snubbed... the reason coaches didn't choose Ellis was because he played for Golden State (losing records, etc...) and the West is stacked with back-court players like Kobe, Westbrook, Nash, etc...

Secondly, it's not about stats... it's Ellis' skill... he IS A STAR... and an underrated one... when you say his game will go down like "every other perimeter player we've added under SVG"... who exactly did we add that was the caliber of Ellis? Who?

Arenas and his shot knees and lack of explosiveness? A declining J-Rich who can't handle the ball or drive? A 34 year old VC who moves like a glacier?... Von Wafer (lol)?

Come on.

And if Ellis came here and his stats went down because he was on a short leash... well then the problem isn't with Ellis... it's with SVG.

But I'm fully confident that under SVG, Ellis can be an even greater player... what has Stan always said about his players? ... "They are what they are"... remember that? He doesn't have the personnel in the back-court with the athleticism and skill-set that can create off the dribble like Ellis consistently... and that one is Otis' fault.

I have that same bad feeling in my stomach about acquiring Ellis. I actually see him coming in here posting subpar scoring numbers on mediocre efficiency trying to fit into this offense and being put on a short leash. Then at that point we get back to debating on whether or not this is on Stan or if Ellis just sucks. I don't see us having those same issues with Nash. He's the kind of guy SVG would trust right off the bat.

I'm not so sure. SVG has said before the reason he runs the offense he does is because of the players he has at his disposal. Most of them are role players who make the open 3. With someone like Ellis on the roster, I'm sure he'd be given more freedom, we haven't had a guy like that with SVG yet. I'm damn sure SVG knows what Ellis can do and isn't going to restrain him.

Agreed. People don't give SVG enough credit as a coach.

I don't remember him "restraining" Wade in Miami...

I'm well aware that Stan is limited by the roster he has at his disposal, but let's not act he hasn't shown himself to be rigid in his ways and inflexible at times. He's an excellent coach, but not without his own faults. I think he gets the most out of certain players, but not for some.

But as I've said before, this might be about more than just Stan. My gut tells me the frustration we've had in the way Carter, Richardson or Hedo have been used in recent years has a lot to do with Nelson's 'emergence' in 2009 and how the Magic have been riding his jock to their detriment ever since. For all we know, Stan's hand is being forced to favor certain players because of team politics.

Monta Ellis is no Wade. He is a high-volume chucker who posts mediocre TS%. I can easily see Stan restraining him for better or worse, especially if Nelson is still around. With Steve Nash, you will have no such issues. He is also a LOCK to start at PG even with Jameer around. Whereas with Ellis, you just never know. I can see us trying to force a midget backcourt just to avoid benching Meer.

Again, agree. I was gonna bring him up, but, I wanna enjoy at least the possibility of getting Ellis.

Ryno really isn't that good. Not wanting to include him in a deal for a guy like Ellis would be foolish

The Celtics are a team we met early on in the season that plays Dwight strait up, and you know how that worked out? Ryan = 0 for 8....... The playoffs will be played in a similar style.

this is correct. please recall ryan's disappearing act in our early out last year in the playoffs against the hawks

I don't think much more needs to be said about Anderson...if we can keep him and get Ellis, great. If we have to give him up to get Ellis, you make that deal. There will always be someone who disagrees though.

Completely OT, but I just found out today in class that one of my friends is Avery Johnson's cousin.
I swear, showed me pictures of him with Avery, Mark Cuban, and a bunch of different players (Tim Hardaway, Shaq, got a pic of Penny's lambo, Vinny Del Negro (random, I know) etc...)

I asked him if he had heard anything about the getting Dwight, he laughed and said no. But, ironically, he's a Magic fan, and Avery himself had attended quite a few Magic games.

Just thought I would share.....

Ellis doesn't get to the line enough to be a star and he is a lousy 1st option. When you need 19 FGA to put up 22 points you are only a 20 point threat on the Warriors or Knicks. His offensive skill set is superb but has not shown himself to be a star, but borderline with potential to get there as he enters his prime. Guess what, give Ryan 34 minutes next year and he'll be a star. His prime is still a few years off too...

Pressure him for more info! Shake him like a baby until he cracks and gives up the intel, or until he dies! Attempted murder is a small price to pay for providing this forum with another rumor

He plays pretty good without Dwight on the floor, sometimes even better without Dwight.

And Bass played more than Ryno in the playoffs last year. Things would've been different if Ryno started.

He had a bad game that night, a lot of people did.
