Am I missing something here?
Dwight is the only one who brought this crap on. He requested in December that he wanted to be traded. It should not be up to his discretion on where he is traded.
If I am working for a company and they say that I have to be transferred to a different city, I go - No if's and's or but's about it.
The rub is that this isn't a regular job where you have rights to an employees services indefinitely. If I am making a trade for someone, I want some kind of guarantee that I will get a good return for my trade and 45 days is not a good return.
You say that if you are transferred, you go "No if's and's or but's about it". But in Dwight's case he is saying, "transfer me and I'll quit and find a better job in a city i want to be in". If I tried that with my job I would be bluffing. Everyone knows Dwight isn't. So when Dwight opened his mouth with his list, he effectively screwed the Magic front office. instead of 29 teams fighting to up their offers to respectable, he picked two teams that can sign him outright. That's why we are stick with dumb offers like the chance to overpay Brook Lopez this summer, or some other bad deal that signs us up for 60% of the value of Dwight for 95% of the cost.
