We need to focus on improving our bench. I'm probably optimistic as hell for saying this but I honestly do believe that we can be a dark horse in the playoffs. My main fear is that are we disciplined enough to play hard and intelligent for 48 minutes each game because that is the main issue I have with this team this season.
if you can only pick one spot on the bench to improve, which area and how do you do it?
When I look at our roster, the thing that is killing us is our lack of balance and depth between the starting unit and the bench. I know Stan thinks about this too but he probably would not do it for chemistry reasons, but I would honestly insert J.J. into the starting lineup because he meshes with the starting unit so well especially with Dwight. I would flip J-Rich and try to either obtain a legitimate backup PG that can fill in when Jameer needs rest or is injured. I would love to have Ramon Sessions here but Cleveland has no need for J-Rich whatsoever. Either we improve the backup PG spot or add another legitimate scorer off the bench and J-Rich would be the guy I would try to float around to see what I could get out there.
It is going to be tough. Thanks to Otis, we literally have no assets anymore except for #12. I don't even think it is about teams not wanting to help Orlando, it is that we have no one that other teams get excited about trading for. Just last season, we had expiring contracts in Carter and Pietrus and we had the Polish Hammer who is playing like a top 5 center in the league (mostly due to Nash but we all know he has the talent to put up numbers). If we would just stood pat and kept that team, we would have been able to put a package together to get whatever help that is needed for Dwight.
