Exactly - RFA leverage is huge with a player like Batum.

Including Aldridge? Wow.
It's not good to have an epically bad game the day before the trading deadline. You're liable to do something you're going to end up regreting. I hope EG is talking to Portly right now. Get Aldridge and Batum.

Aldridge is not even in his prime yet, he's only 26 years old and they want to trade him? WOW.

If we landed the #1 overall pick, would you trade it plus McGee and filler for Aldridge and Batum?

No. Because we lose out on Davis. I'd rather have Davis and Batum.
And we could always offer Batum a contract, just frontload the deal.

Portland has to give us their pick and its a deal. If not, no way.

No, I wouldn't trade the rights to Anthony Davis straight up for Aldridge and Batum. He's better already than either of them IMO. I would trade pick, however, because it is unlikely Washington wil land the top pick.

Just checking out Aldridge's numbers. He is 4th among 4s in PER but his rebounding is very weak. He plays 36 minutes a game but averages only 8 rebounds. That is bad even by Wizards standards.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves
Aldridge is a good player. One of his strengths is the ability to score efficiently. He's decent on the offensive glass. It looks like his defensive rebounding dipped a little when Portland acquired Gerald Wallace.

THIS
Unless we come out with Rafiki holding Baby Simba or something at the Draft Lottery to get the sympathy vote and rig the #1 pick

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves
I wouldn't trade the #1 overall pick for Aldridge and Batum (considering we can pursue Batum in free agency).
Davis is just too good to pass up.
But as CCJ said, I'd trade the pick (now) for that package in a heartbeat. Even proposed a trade in the trade thread upon finding out Portland was having a firesale.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves
I'd trade McGee and the 1st pick only if we had top 1 protection on the pick. I'd also be willing to throw in any other 2 players on the roster not named Wall. Then, if we get lucky - we'd have Aldridge, Batum AND Davis - to go with Wall next season.

It looks to me like his rebounding has always been weak. Last year he played 39.6 minutes and averaged 8.7 rebounds. The year before that played 37 minutes and averaged 8.1. That is pretty bad for a guy who splits time between the 4 and 5.
He is a skilled scorer but i didn't realize his rebounding was a problem. His rebound rate is actually equal to Al Harrington and a little behind Blatche.

Sounds like the Nets have shifted focus to resolve to build around Deron Williams. And they're likely getting the coincidentally afforementioned Gerald Wallace for a bag of magic beans.

The team is also responding by trying to deal for Gerald Wallace (who has now been dealt at consecutive deadlines). Assuming they re-up Lopez, they still need a PF. I'd send them Blatche+2nd for Morrow+Petro.

Deron's not staying, unless maybe they get LMA

I actually was aware of this. I don't want to make another post in the I Was Wrong About thread, but I remember making posts about Blatche rebounding at a higher rate (and IIRC blocking more per minute) than Aldridge at a similar stage in their careers.
