And I just heard on the radio that it's a CONDITIONAL 2015 2nd rounder. For some reason, it irritates the hell out of me that Ernie has such attention to needless detail to the point that he found it necessary to get an utterly meaningless pick, and he still can't see the forest from the trees.
Speaking of which, it just hit me that I don't have to watch Javale and Nick underachieve anymore. It's a great feeling.
I'm sure they're nice guys, and I wish them well, but it was so frustrating to watch them play stupidly.
I watched Wall play stupidly for a #1 overall and I watched Flip ride Blatche. As Javale got traded, the last couple games I watched Wittman ride Jordan Crawford and get angry with McGee.
What I suspect happens next is both Young and McGee suddenly mature. Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and solid veterans like Butler (who already knows Nick well), and Foye (ditto). The stars couldn't have aligned better. No, divine intervention sent Nick to a better place. Young is a jacker but he's going to succeed there because the first thing they're going to discover is how good he is defensively. Second, he's going to get the ball from a smart PG who is way better than John Wall. Third, he's going to make highlight reels along with Griffin.
In McGee's case, that's just as much a can't miss, too. Gallinari can ball. Faried can ball. Afflalo is not a jacker. Lawson runs the court with his head up and he hits outside shots.
I am sticking my neck out, but I can't see Young or McGee doing anything but succeeding where they are. It was time to part with Nick, but Javale was given away as far as I'm concerned.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.
