The MVP award is not given based off stats. They didn't give the previous MVP awards to the guy with the prettiest stats, so why would this one be different? Are you suggesting they totally change the criteria of the award simply to accommodate Valanciunas?
Sorry, but I don't think so. Valanciunas was the #2 Eurocup player and Beverely was the #1. The award was given exactly as it should have been. Are you guys going to moan and gripe and complain this much if Lietuvos Rytas fails to win the Eurocup and Valanciunas wasn't given MVP, even though he had the best stats?
I can already see the, "they should have made an exception to the criteria that the Finals MVP goes to someone from the winning team, just so Jonas could get it".
What kind of nonsense you are talking about?
Jonas is even more valuable to his team than Beverley. Have you you seen the game without Jonas and Beverly? Without Jonas Rytas collapses on both ends of the floor, without Beverly Spartak does not. Beverly played pretty badly in last games and spartak still drove away.
Its just for his team Jonas is much more valuable than Beverly is for his. Without Jonas everything collapses, without Beverly it does not. I mean Jonas collects fouls and Rytas without Jonas are loosing to Kedainiai team in lithuania who are in a deep middletier of Lithuania. With Jonas on the bench (and then getting quick fouls) from +18 Lead against Zalgiris, game eventually ends up in a loss...
I would understand if Beverly would have been playing some great games to push his team to semis but he was not. In fact he played pretty crappy compared to how he used to play before. On the other hand if Jonas had a bad game himself then most likely there would be no Rytas in Semi's.
Really in terms of stats AND the importance to the team Jonas is far superior to Beverly. What one can argue is that Spartak is a stronger team, but frankly thats not convincing as Rytas is in the semi's anyway.
