It does seems like he doesn't want to run his best packages too much so that opposing teams don't see what he has planned, and thus can't plan a solid defense around it. The Big 5 hasn't played too often and I think thats a good idea. I'm sure he has a solid rotation and idea set in place, but he is doing some odd things now to 1. lower minutes and keep people fresh 2. keep the opposing coaches guessing. Look although the bench hasn't been the best lately, they don't really need to score 20-30 a night. When it comes time for the playoffs, its going to be the starters whom ever that might be, and then the Big 5 closing it out.
Although at times I lack faith in what Spo is doing with his rotations, I do think him and Riley have a plan behind all of this madness, or else we wouldn't be in this spot were in right now. I like that everyone is getting plenty of rest (minus LeBron but he's a freak, and wants his MVP). But I think once they lock up the 2nd seed, you'll see more resting for these guys including LeBron. Besides the Bulls and Celtics games, they should treat the rest of the games as if they're just a scrimmage and just run some things they've been working on since they don't have a lot of time for practices. Give the bench more opportunities to get clicking together, and give the Big 3 some rest, and run some ideas you have. If we have the 2nd seed locked up, who cares if we lose to scrub teams as long as everyones healthy, rested, and ready.
