I understand that. But it's still a stupid system.

So since 1990, only 3 teams with the worse record have won the lottery. It' d be hilarious if Charlotte fell to 4th (if its possible).

This draft lottery is a mess. The most likely outcome for the worst team is to move DOWN in the draft order.

How can the worst team go anywhere else but down?

This may not be as grim as you think, depending on who is picking in front of us. There are a lot of scenarios where Beal slips to 4, even though Ford isn't projecting that at the moment.

Us dropping to 5th is a little better than a 1 in 10 chance. I don't think it will happen.

There are 5 quality options in this draft and the Wiz are guaranteed to obtain one of them. Clearly getting Davis is ideal, but I'd be content with MKG, Beal, Robinson, or Drummond. This isn't like last year, or 2009, where it's either top 3 or dreck (although 2009 has been better than advertised).

OK, so this playing the lotto 10 times is a really good exercise in why I think we're going to end up with Beal.

Here are my Chad Ford results:

1. 3 -- Beal
2. 3 -- Beal
3. 5 -- Drummond
4. 5 -- Drummond
5. 2 -- MKG
6. 4 -- Beal
7. 2 -- MKG
8. 4 -- Robinson
9. 4 -- Beal
10. 4 -- Beal

But when I look at the individual scenarios, I actually have us ending up with Beal NINE out of the ten times.

Scenario 4 went:
1. Davis (TOR)
2. Robinson (NO)
3. MKG (Cleveland)
4. Beal (CHA)
5. Us.

You're telling me that Charlotte would take Beal there with Walker and Henderson on their rookie deals? No way. They take Barnes or Sullinger or Drummond or Zeller or make a deal to flip spots with us.

Scenario 8 had CHA taking Beal at 3 with RObinson still on the board. Won't happen.

Here is hoping that Ford is right about CLeveland preferring MKG to Beal and New Orleans preferring RObinson to both. I think he's wrong about the Wizards preferring MKG to Beal. At least I hope I am.

Charlotte needs talent at every position, so they're not in a situation where they can pick someone else just because they have Kemba and Henderson manning those spots. If he's the best player available, pick him, and then figure out where to play him.

I would assume the combine is held in mid-May.

Thx. I agree with everyone else. Sucks to wait so long.

Back to the conspiracy theory. It crossed my mind that with Rose going down, and having an uncertain future, that the commissioner might need to put some marketing behind another exciting East coast guard in order to sell the league. If the Wizards got the 1st overall pick, Davis and Wall sure would make a marketable commodity for the league.
