1st you have to consider that there have been 3 clear intentional fouls in the series, all committed by the Mavs, resulting in 6 FTA's for the Thunder. Those need to be deducted from the totals to show how the series is really being officiated.
So we have through 2 games, on OKC's home floor, with OKC being a team that typically shoots many more FT's per game than the Mavs due to style of play :
Fouls called on OKC : 50
Fouls called on Dallas (not counting 3 clear intentionals) : 43
FTA's by OKC not given to them on purpose by Dallas : 53
FTA's by Dallas, none given intentionally : 57
If anyone has a complaint, it's OKC fans, but we won't, because that's what whiny losers do. I just wish Jim Carrey would shut up.
Even during the regular season, we would joke about if there was any scenario under which Dallas could lose a game without crying about the officiating, and other fanbases agreed.
Before the series, Dallas fans gave numbers similar to those above to show how OKC gets love from the officials when playing them. By those standards, what do you have to say for yourself now?
Try to lose graciously. It's part of good sportsmanship.
Watch the damn game. Quit looking at numbers.
I did watch the game. The refs were whistle happy in both directions. I recall a couple of bad calls going against both teams. They missed Perk pulling Dirk's jersey on one occasion, and a couple of other holds. They also missed some holds on KD and low body contact. Westbrook got some iffy calls, Dirk got an iffy call when Ibaka stood straight up. I remember on one occasion I thought Westbrook did too much to initiate contact with a defender in the air on a jump shot, and also once that West got the same benefit. I thought Dirk got the benefit of the doubt on that continuation when he got hit in the back near the 3 point line, stumbled forward with 3 big strides and laid it in.
We could do this all day. The officials are jobbing no one. They aren't perfect. It's hard to see everything on a basketball court.
Also, I was referencing the exact numbers that Mavs fans were referencing as evidence of officiating bias against them during the regular season series, so I'm just using the standard they do, then they keep whining and changing what the standard should be.
It's called "laying it bare" - confirming the hypothesis that Dallas and their fans are the biggest whiners in the NBA. Hold up one standard for judging the slant of officiating, when that doesn't pan out, appeal to the subjective. Just admit, you got beat.
I mean, really now, 50 whistles on OKC thru 2 games at home and you're upset? Perhaps you would have liked to have seen 70 whistles on OKC? would that have been fair?
