No way I would my team through this whole fiasco again. For all we know we could make all kinds of change and he says "Thanks, I'd rather be in Brooklyn".

There's no guarantee that if we make considerable changes, he's definitely staying here.

This right here^^^

One of the best and most sensible posters on this forum IMO. (mhectorgato)

Show me the extension, I'll show you rebuilding.

Rebuilding is not a one year process at all, so for those of you who think Dwight should hold out until we "build a contender"...well he won't be under contract anymore by that point. And that is a huge gamble.

No one has a read on what Dwight is thinking. For all we know, like mhector said, we could just begin our rebuild around Dwight process, and then next season he just leaves for Brooklyn or Dallas. No commitment, you gotta go.

I struggle to believe that any of you would be happy to sit and suffer ineptitude from your own employers at the expense of your largest career goal.

For the past 2 seasons it's been blatantly obvious that the team needs changes but all we've seen are bandaids and all we've heard is "I like this team". Time for the team to pony up and put a real plan into action.

And I call BS on anyone trying to say that the team can't make moves to improve the team regardless of whether or not we're rebuilding around Dwight or not. If the team's rebuilding plans with or without Dwight don't involve bringing in another marquee talent then they're not thinking big enough. If I'm Dwight then I'd view the magic taking that position as an indication that they're not confident in their own abilities to get talent, so why would I want to extend with a team like that?

I am taking the viewpoint of the team, as I am a fan of the Orlando Magic first and foremost.

As such, if I am committing myself (speaking as ownership again) to making changes, then I need to know if my biggest asset to make changes is staying or going. I've already "fired" my son-in-law from the COO (I think that's right) position. Next I am about to fire my GM/PBO. I've already started to make changes.

I would prefer that D12 stay and we build around him. But I can't wait until mid-season to see how feels about the matter. What if I do everything in my power to placate him and he still doesn't want to stay? How many future seasons have I potentially damaged because of not getting a commitment.

People on this board are always talking about fiscal responsibility and the need to be forward looking. Well, to me, this is an exact definition of that matter. This is more than giving JRich a 4 year deal. This potentially signing several guys for a player that won't be around for more than 1/2 a season.

Let me try this caps thing.

Is this finally the day that BIG changes are made?? I am REALLY starting to believe that the DeVos family has NO CLUE on how to run a BASKETBALL franchise.

I was reading an article on about the Magic drafting Orton last year and nearly vomited when they said nearly every team in the league worked Orton out except for the Magic, and every team easily saw he had knee issues. Then they said we didn't even talk to Harper on the phone once, let alone work him out, and yet made a draft day deal for him. Can't wait for a FO shakeup. You'd think someone in the organization would have some balls and step up and demand these players be worked out, like one Stan Van Gundy, but I guess not. I don't want to blow our 19th pick because we're incompetent and not doing any work before the draft.

Thats our super strategy, we dont talk to anybody, we dont work out anybody, so nobody can know who we will draft and steal it from us. It's such a smart move! We are the best! Its working pretty well so far.

magicfan84 wrote:^ Well mine and I think most peoples idea of rebuilding for our team is finding a way to rid ourselves of Hedo, Jrich and Duhon, so with that in mind I dont personally think it matters at this point if Dwight signs an extension or not.

I would almost rather Dwight not sign an extension which would be easily for the max, when we have an opportunity to go into next offseason with significant capspace where Dwight can agree to take a bit less to sign another legit player or 2 at reduced salary to have a real shot at wining. If Dwight/Iggy/monta agree to take a combined 40 mil we still may have a shot for keeping ryan at 6 per

Monta
JJ - reduced deal
Iggy
Anderson
Dwight

Thats a title team

I dont think we need Dwight to resign at this point

Here's my thoughts with the ultimatem. Unfortunately the Magic FO are going to setup Dwight as the bad guy if he doesnt sign his extension over this summer. Where I believe Dwight is upset and feels he can't trust Alex is there had to be some type of agreement made prior to him opting in. My thoughts are Alex promised to fire SVG to appease him but that he would have to extend in the summer which Dwight agreeing to do.

Then SVG came out with his firestorm and thru Dwight and the FO under the bus. I'm sure Dwight wanted SVG to be fired on the spot but Alex was on a cruise at the time. When Alex came back Dwight was expecting Alex to fire SVG and was shocked to see he wasn't. Now there are some teammates siding with SVG over Dwight and this probably wouldn't had happened if he as fired already.

I think Dwight will extend but he's gonna want to clean house and until we do he is not going to extend. Let's see who caves first Dwight or Alex. If Alex doesn't, expect a trade or trade demand.

Dwight just needs to man up and Alex needs to clean house...

We're in a wait and see mode ... but I think this may not be too far from the truth (unfortunately).

He didn't come up with the firestorm. It was already out and he confirmed it.

We need to clean house regardless - starting with Otis.

See the sad part of us being Magic Fans is that we are basically in no win situation.

The Dwight haters really can't afford for him to leave because without him this is a .500 team at best even with Bynum. Do the haters really want a psycho under achiever like him or rather deal with primadonna Dwight. We would be stuck in mediocrity for another 10 years. Whats also funny is who would fans root for. It seems like most fans only like JJ and Ryan Anderson but bitch and complain about everyone else. I'm sorry JJ and Ryno are not gonna fill the Amway or take us to the Ship.

For the Dwight supporters we have to put up with his immaturity and wish washiness.

If I as a fan have to make a choice I'm gonna put up with the baby because he makes my team a better team. He gets us automatically 50 wins and top 4-5 in the East when healthy.

This season was really tested one as a fan of the organization. From the FO to players, there were issues all season long.

As we always say ... there's always next season! Hopefully these issues will be resolved quickly in the off-season, providing some reassurance.

Per a report @AlexKennedyNBA filed this AM, Jameer is likely to decline his option for next yr. Also, Magic looking at Otis replacements.

Say Jameer leaves J rich is traded to Utah or someone for a TPE and JJ is waived/traded

that leaves Orlando with like 43 mill in cap could they sign D Will to a max deal?

D Will
Use the mid level on a SG or sign and trade Anderson for one

i don't think there's a MLE available if a team is under the cap though right?

never mind

Teams with cap room, previously ineligible for the MLE, have a new MLE of $2.5 million with a two-year duration.

I dont think its possible.

We would have to let Ryan go to sign another MAX and we wouldnt have MLE cuz we would be already under the cap. Besides i think we would have to renounce Clark, Orton and Wafer rights and trade our pick to have a chance to sign Deron.

Deron's max salary if not resigned by the Nets: 16,359M + 4,5% = 17,095M.

I know this has been discussed many of times but I was wondering what the overall consensus was for whom people wanted to see as the replacement for Otis. Is there a list of names available or GM like there is players?

teams under the cap are eligible for an mle of 2years at 2 some odd million dollars. And so what if we let Ryan go? He isn't a corneratone or a player that geta US over the hump. If you have a chance to sign dwill you open the door for Ryan and thank him for his services.
