Hopefully he won't be available until late June, right after they hoist the trophy. (ABM, baby!)

The Wizards didn't handle McGee inappropriately. They gave him an opportunity and decided that instead of paying him $10 mm per, it was in their best interests to move on given his contract situation and the teams shortcomings. McGee is viewed more favorably in Denver because he played his ideal role, an energy reserve. He averaged 8.6 ppg and shot 43% from the floor in the series v LA. He was the same player but his flaws were hidden by coming off the bench and not being given the ball on offense except for on fast breaks or p n rolls to the hoop. In game 6 & 7 when he actually tried to score 1 on 1 it was the same Javale.

The problem Denver will face is they will either over pay him when his ideal role is to come off the bench, or they'll lose him as another team overpays him. Whichever team gets him will very quickly realize & regrat his contract. If you coukd get Javale and $5- $7 mm per to come off the bench, great...but at anything more its a bad deal and the perception of his play will change based on the money he's earning.

Exploded with increased popularity? Exactly what the Wizards needed to get better, nevermind that while their popularity "exploded" their production stayed remarkably similar to what they were doing on a team where they essentially had free reign.

Sorry if I'm not drinking the koolaide on how those guys are so much better off now that they're no longer being subjected to this teams relentless effort to discredit their contributions.

Smh.

Let's get something out of the way here, the Wizards were counting on both of those guys to be potential franchise building blocks. The suggestion that they were mishandled is absurd. Both were looking to get paid like professionals, it's too bad that they didn't think it was necessary to conduct themselves like ones.

Young, $9 million a year, is that fact lost on anybody? He'll be lucky to get the full MLE after this season is over and the Nuggets may be gushing and awing over McGee's potential now, but let's see where they stand when McGee signs his +$10 million per anum deal and still has to be hidden on the bench as to not expose his absurd defensive deficiencies.

If there's one thing you can fault the Wizards for it's saddling those youngin's with too many expectations. Making a playoff run, anybody else remember that offseason nonsense?

Young and McGee in particular, had every opportunity to succeed, and they both failed miserably.

Hard to argue with facts like those.

The Wiz did try 6 ways to Sunday to get them productive. And they did improve while here. Nick made great strides last year ( under the hated Flip ). McGee got better this year. They stated them. They brought them off the bench. They tried lots of way to make it work.

And while some may say they are more effective on a team where they are, as mentioned, they do less.. well.. they are coming off the bench. We wanted them as starters. Specially since they are asking for starter money. Plus, while they are doing less on other team, the Wizards got better without both of them. Lets not forget that.

This story will only be more clear when we see what happens with both and their contracts. We know what we have. We have Nene and we know for how long and how much. Neither of those other team know what they have yet.

Do we really want to bring the NBA's most disliked coach ( by players) to the Wizards?

most dislike coach in nba or just the magic roster? He is annoying he complains a lot but magic always seem to be completive with him. At this point I ready to win i will try to look past all the drama he's been threw if he can help us win. I'm all for it if wizards want to get him.

While I appreciated Whitman and what he did to establish a system of accountability amongst the players, I think SVG is easily one of the top 5 coaches in the NBA. I'd jump all over that if I was EG.

No

Actually, hell no.

I want no part of that whining Smerf. He would be a terrible choice for this team.

I understand that he was hated by divas (Shaq, Dwight, Arenas) but the man was 259-135 in 5 seasons with the Magic, I'll take it

Yes, because he coaches the right way (i.e. forcing opposing offenses to shoot mid range jumpshots, post defense, rebounding) and doesn't kiss ass.

Whitman doesn't either, and that's a great thing. But Whitman isn't proven, unlike SVG.

i really dig stan's no-bullcrap, team-first, never-satisfied attitude and i think our squad (pending a swingman acquisition) can make pacers-esque noise next season with him at the helm. the question isn't if we'll have him, but rather if he would have us.

Well of course you wouldn't want him. Anyone who would actually hold Andray Flatche accountable is probably someone you would want no part of.

When you characterize SVG, I feel like you have to put it into proper context. His two biggest detractors were Shaq (in Miami) and Dwight (in Orlando) -- both of whom seem full of themselves and see themselves as bigger than the team.

Stan Van gets results, plain and simple. With the right group of players, he'd be an excellent coach, long-term. And from the roster we've put together (high character, strong work ethic, willing and able to learn), he would appear to be a great fit.

pancakes3 is spot on -- the question isn't whether we would want to sign him. It's whether he would want to sign with us.

That has to be the stupidest thing have I read on the board in a long long time. I was the one who said I hope they sit him as an inactive player until he gets in shape. Which interesting enough is what they actually did. I don't think many saw that coming.

That happened under Whitman who I would like to see return for a one year audition.

Actually, this is the stupidest thing you've ever read (and written) in a long time:

He gets it and he is already working hard to get back in shape.

I think we will finally see it. He did actually do it once in his 7DD summer. I say he does it again. He got beaten up pretty bad. The message got through. You will visible see a difference before to long.

That was just last month.

I think it is more whether he wants to coach or not next season. The team needs more talent, but overall, the Wizards offer a pretty attractive destination for a coach.

If we get Davis i'd totally welcome Stan the Van. Otherwise i'd be happier to go with a Dave Joerger or just keep Whittman.
