Mirza Teletovic Narrows Teams To Nets And Cavs

Post#1 » by NyCeEvO » Thu May 24, 2012 5:14 pm

Per ND:

A Spanish basketball writer tweets Thursday that Europe's top scorer, Mirza Teletovic, may be interested in joining "Brooklyn," writes Jon de la Presa. Teletovic, a 6'9" stretch forward, plays for Caja Laboral in Spain. In Euroleague games this season, Teletovic averaged 21.7 ppg. He is 26 and Bosnian, having grown up in Mostar, the same town that produced Zoran Planinic and Bojan Bogdanovic.

Teletovic led Europe in minutes, total points, field goals, three pointers made and attempted, as well as second in fouls drawn. He shot 43.6 percent from three and his career average is 40.2 percent. He averaged only 6.0 rebounds, however. Teletovic, who's a free agent and thus has no buyout, is one of Europe's highest paid players, but makes less than $2 million.

Even if this guy is a scrub over, if we give him a $3-4mil/year contract, he'd make more money than he did overseas.

1) This guy actually wants to come to Brooklyn. That shows the power of NYC and most likely Proky as well.

2) The guy has underrated athleticism:

Really awful reporting.

1. He did not lead the Euroleague in scoring.

2. He is not one of Europe's highest paid players.

3. He does not make $2 million a season. He makes $3.2 million a season. And again, he is definitely not one of Europe's highest paid players.

About the player....he is an awesome offensive weapon. Like a super athletic version of Ryan Anderson.

As long as he is a FA, that's all I care about, especially if it's true that he wants to come to Brooklyn.

If true that's a hell of a player.

Off-season rebuildation plan:

Draft-

1) Try to trade up to draft Evan Fournier.
2) Using the Miami Heat second rounder, draft Tornike Shengelia.

Trades-

1) Sign and trade Deron Williams to the Los Angeles Lakers for Pau Gasol.

Free Agency-

1) Sign Goran Dragic to a 4 year, 50 million dollar contract.
2) Sign Ersan Ilyasova to a 4 year, 40 million dollar contract.
3) Sign Bojan Bogdanovic to a 3 year deal.
4) Sign Mirza Teletovic to a 3 year deal.

Marketing-

1) Rename the Nets to BC Brooklyn Nets

Dragic
Bogdanovic
Fournier/Teletovic
Illyasova/Shengelia
Gasol

Championship.

I thought he was signed through 2014? Anyone actually have an article on the status of his contract?

He's not a free agent. He has a contract with several years left on it. But he supposedly has an out option to go to the NBA.

But no, he's not a free agent.

He's seems to have made it known that he will be paying his own buyout therefore making him a free agent.

He clearly wants a shot at the NBA & I'd love him on the Nets. A low risk huge high reward guy who is a very good player. A perfect stretch 4 and all the possible stretch 4's seem to point to 1 thing, a deal for Howard.

Well whatever his contract situation is, if he wants to play for us then lets do it. Looks like a pretty good player.

From watching this highlight video, he plays like Peja with a little more athleticism (With Peja being obviously the better shooter). For a forward he moves very well off-ball and can hit the jumper off of screens which is pretty rare nowadays. This guy can be a really good tool. He might be too small to play stretch four though. Who knows though, I'm just speculating off of this youtube highlights.

Those are not the season leaders. That's only for 10 games.

These are the season leaders:

http://www.euroleague.net/main/statisti ... gg=PerGame

Bo McCalebb was first, and Vassilis Spanoulis was second.

Krstic actually averaged 14 a game, with 6 rebounds.

Those other numbers were just for the first stage of the season.

Teletovic's Euroleague stats:

Season Team G Pts Avg 2FG % 3FG % FT % Reb St As Bl
10-11 Caja Laboral 20 309 15.4 63/136 46.3 49/136 36 36/53 67.9 110 12 16 10

So averaged 15.4 points in 20 games in the Euroleague with his best game being 32 points during Olympiacos Piraeus vs. Caja Laboral on 12/8/2011.

He looks a very solid prospect that could be hit or miss but with his 3 point range and ability I'd give him a go.
