If anything, they would pitch dwill on a big contract, him being the star and a rejuvenated assertive ownership trying to do everything in there power to bring a historic franchise back to contention. He wold be a huge jumpstart on a developing young team that just missed the ECF by points. Etc etc Etc
Basically what every other teams gonna "say".
Not really. I doubt he cares about all that stuff. I'm sure the most important things are 1) money and 2) playing with another star like a Dwight Howard. That is what the NBA is now. Everyone is going to play with other elite players and join their boys on other teams. No one respects the history anymore. Especially not a guy like Deron Williams who has been known to be kind of a diva.
You throw the Dwight Howard thing at him and then you also include the fact that this team just got to within one game of the ECF. They have a deep team, a young group of guys that will grow and be competitive for years to come. But just the latter in itself will not be enough to get him to come here IMO. Because he'll look around the league and see the teams with multiple stars and wish that is the situation he was in.
If it comes down to the Sixers vs the Nets, it really is no comparison. The Nets is a dead franchise that has no fan base. Sure, they could offer Deron the same package as the Sixers, but the Sixers have more overall talent and actually will provide a large market to promote himself in. The Nets don't, even with the move to Brooklyn, which I suspect will do little to change the doldrums that the franchise has been in forever.
