frederick, its not just the interview process alone although some people have hopped off the bandwagon because of that.

The Trail Blazers were one of "many teams" who were disappointed with Connecticut SG Jeremy Lamb's pre-draft workouts.

I'd rather take someone that is ready to battle night in and night out, isn't afraid to take last second shots, and shows a lot of heart and passion for the game. Rivers meet those qualities. Lamb honestly doesn't fit into our "culture" - Raps will pass over this dude. Book it.

Wow, what a bunch of nonsense. The 100% unmotivated, soft mentality, and afraid to take last second shots are all made up statements. If you had said he was shy of contact and weak, then you would have had something going.

Well, NBA talent evaluators seem to think the same. Yea...I'm just posting drivel...

But yea, I'm probably wrong about the unmotivated part. I don't know. He looks like he doesn't give a damn during the interviews. Maybe when he's on the court, everything changes. Guess he's kind of like Joe Johnson in that he doesn't show much emotion.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... Evaluators

Jeremy Lamb is one of the top-rated shooting guards projected in the 2012 draft, but has struggled with a tendency to disappear against tough competition.

Many talent evaluators believe Lamb is too laid back, even going so far as to label the 6-foot-5 scoring guard as soft.

"I think that's his deal," said a Central Division executive. "It gives you a little bit (of concern) but that program's turned out a lot of good players. I think you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. If you can play for [coach Jim] Calhoun you can play for a lot of coaches. He's got some tools. He's really athletic. And people seem to like the kid, too. He's just pretty passive."

One opposing coach criticized Lamb’s effort and energy.

"When you give him space and you let him do his thing he's got it going pretty good," the coach said. "But when you get up in him and deny him the ball and make him work for his shot, he doesn't seem to be the most competitive guy. But he's good. He can shoot it. It just depends on how competitive he's going to be on that given day."

So, you believe everything they say? It helps to form your own opinion by watching the games too, you know?

They've probably watched more UCONN games than you so yes I can't just take their opinions with a grain of salt.

I thought when BC didn't mention Lamb he was just trying to hide the teams interest in him but it could easily just be that he doesn't like Lamb. Ed Stefanski said that management takes into account a variety of factors when drafting a player including their attitude and how they are off the court. Drummond would be a much better pick than Lamb, not only is he more valuable to other NBA teams but he's also got a much higher upside. Drummond's worst case in his rookie season would still be 10 times better than Aaron Gray. I bet you can't find a single mock where Drummond is lower than Lamb.

Being a long time Lamb fan like yourself should know about Lamb's skillset on the floor, its actions rather than talkin' to media that reflects on attitude/off-court, I"m pretty sure Lamb is well-behaved off-court, attitude is laidback but he can flat out score and create for himself at the end of the day.

You're just letting a couple of interviews to quickly throw your judgement away considered u admired his skills all season. As long as he's able to do the things coaches ask him to do on the court and do it at good level, then I don't see the characteristic facing media talk would do an immense impact on a guy's game. There's always guys w/ insane potential taken high in the draft, don't tell me there's no excessive level of worries for Drummond if u pick him over others. He's basically a huge gamble for GM and the only positives are that you're hoping he could turn out to be the guy he's supposed to be. If he wasn't such a high potential guy, u think his lack of fundamentals and extreme poor plays would garner him attention?

Haha I've watched nearly every game UConn game this year. So, nice try.

Who are the many teams, there's lack of coverage on this resource, as you know there's always these type of media resources to alter the draft dynamics of prospects, oh he didn't do well in one workout oh he's gonna be bad, oh the other guy blew away the combine workout, oh he's definitely legit. Most other teams haven't even tested him out yet, especially the Raptors. So Blazers alone isn't going to change my mind.

Watching the game on TV is different from watching it from the arena, behind the UCONN bench, etc. Just saying.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

Wtf. It makes no difference. You have beat writers from Toronto writing pure hyperboles, and you expect the readers to believe that? I doubt they've watched the games from the stands like you say nor have they watched a dozen games. I'm not saying Lamb has no flaws, but some of the things I've read, I did not see. They say he's not motivated, but why? Is it because of playing with two ball hogs like I've seen?

Those quotes were from a David Aldridge article on NBA.com, not Toronto Sun. Look I'd be ok with the Raps drafting Lamb since its the #8 pick, I'd just rather have Rivers.

So after all these talks, you end up using River as example? A guy who neglects all 4 guys on the floor, one who can't play defense and shows obvious selfishness that one will find whether he's all about "me, me, me" That is the guy you really want sure. River fits the Kings "culture" more, since the whole team is all about "me, me, me".

I know that. I'm saying you have guys writing non-sense like Chisholm just recently. You had friggin' Chad Ford comparing Lamb to DeRozan ffs. Get real.

Back to the orginal claim that this team + Lamb would lack motivation and fire.

I've made this point before but he's not entirely wrong. Assuming Bayless stays and JV doesn't change overnight, we will have two guys who bring fire every time they step on the court. Problem is they aren't accomplished guys who can help Casey drive the point home. You are going to need a Nash or a Deron Williams or someone else who comes in and at the beginning of the years says "efff what happened last year, this year we are going to win each and every game".

That doesn't have to be Lamb but I do think we need a better locker room leader then Jamal Magloire.

Like someone just mentioned we are not drafting a franchise changer so how can Lamb be the only logical selection in the minds of reporters and followers?

Honestly, if BC picks Lamb I want Stephan A. Smith to sound off like a maniac same as when Babcock selected fellow UCONN Huskie CV. "what in the ... on earth is Mr. Babcock (B-Collar) thinking?"

Obviously, I vote 0% re: the OP poll.

If we draft him, its obvious because of his skillset. That's major reason. If you're not drafting a franchise changer, then you better be drafting someone who has skills to play his position. I don't take Smith's accountability on everything he says, that guy has been wrong so many times. Babcock? Lol, I'm assuming u hinting at the Arraujo pick comparison into the Lamb talk, thats absurd. Lamb's not a late 1st round or 2nd round prospect, I don't see how Smith or any other scouts would ridicule on Lamb pick.

I never doubted Lamb's skill set, he's almost certainly going to be the most-skilled player at the 8th slot. I'm just saying with Waiters getting a high draft promise, it's likely someone will fall to Toronto.

Players better/ranked higher than Lamb: Davis, MKG, Beal, Robinson, Barnes, Drummond. Then you have Lillard, PJ III, and Waiters who could jump before 8.

I think a good comparison for Jeremy Lamb is Kerry Kittles minus the aggressiveness
