BC talking about getting shooters. I think Lamb is their top guy if no one drops.

His first workout was with us, he rolled his ankle when he drove to the bucket. Alex Mackenze took him aside, checked him and said he's done for the day. So they only got 5 mins of workout from him, he's going to cancel the next few workouts including the Blazers, and try to recover from the injury. So far Ed said "he can shoot!". That's the updated news we've got so far.

Ug he shot 34% from college 3point range that's hella-bad,

As a Raptor Jamario Moon shot 34% from NBA 3point range and we cringed when he shot the 3.

Just some perspective to Lambs long ball.

He shot 37% in his freshman year when he took 3 a game. This past season he took 6 a game. I think he should be a much better three pointer shooter if he takes better shots and gets out of the disaster that is UCONN offense

Well, none of the prospects impressed from 3, and Lamb shot it better last year. I think that he played too many minutes this year, 37 per, and his legs were on the dead side. I think it affected his 3s and attacking, which led to more 3s, he's not the strongest guy but he'll have no choice but to get stronger. His stroke looks great and he hit 3 threes or more 11 times last year, I'm not worried.

Not a good comparison here, Jamario Moon's 3pt career stat: 0.6 (3PM) -1.9 (3PA) =.329% ...pretty disgusting numbers and his attempts are so much less.

I think you've heard of a common saying or logical fact: The more a guy attempts a 3, the more likely the percentage drops. Consider Lamb had a whopping 6.2 shots attempt at 3 per game this season, its percentage is bound to drop. His long distance is the least you should worry about from a college basketball standpoint especially when alot of college players tend to settle for too many tough 3s. Lamb's got a good shooting stroke, you shouldn't worry about that. So yeah, I'm just gonna try and play it nice so don't get frustrated cdel00 kk?

Ug that is worrisome because the mid range game where Lamb is excellent is really hard to get to in the NBA. Its not gonna be as easy for Lamb to get to his spot when teams know where that spot is. Lambs limited effectiveness from long range needs the most improvement as he transitions to the bigs.

If Lamb catches the ball on the 3pnt line defenders will just play the drive and let him shoot, without a 40% from 3 shot he'll be hard pressed vs NBA defenses.

Lamb has NBA three point range, most of his threes were from well behind the college line. His 34% shooting from there this season indicates the type of shots he took from three rather than his shooting ability from 20+ feet out. He can make threes off the dribble at a decent rate but he took too many of them. He will be much closer to 40% if a majority of the threes he takes are spot ups (which is probably what will happen in his rookie season).

Lamb can hit an NBA three which means teams will have to show him respect. Talking like he's Rondo or something, c'mon now.

It's possible that the three posters who replied to your concern are on your ignore list (only one deserves it), but he's got as good of a chance to hit 40% from NBA three as anybody in the draft.

I would disagree with the concern that teams will take away his midrange game, too. Bargnani is at the top of the scouting report, then Val inside/rolling, then Lamb, whose awareness will help him get to where the defense ain't- if he's not the one running the P/R.

Bargnani won't be around forever but, again, there's no reason to think that Lamb can't shoot 33% from three at the minimum, good enough to be worth it.

Lamb took too many off the dribble 3-pointers which is why his 3-pt% is relatively low. It's not that he can't make them off the bounce, but I wouldn't look into his ability to shoot the long ball too deeply as it isn't a true reflection of his shooting. If Lamb can take smarter shots from deep you can expect his 3-pt% to climb back up.

It's like Kobe Bryant. He takes so many hand-in-the-face pull-up 20-footers off the dribble well behind the 3-point line that his 3-pt% takes a hit. When he has his feet set and spotting up, he's money. It's the same scenario with Lamb here.

To add on what FluLikeSymptoms said in his last paragraph, with coach Casey running a flex offense I think it'll open up the floor for Lamb to get his mid-range game off with all the various screens and cuts that are happening all at once. If Lamb makes the correct read, he'll easily make the catch for a one dribble pull-up at the elbow. If not, he can be the secondary ball-handler initiating the pick-and-roll to look for his own offense. It's not that hard to get Lamb his mid-range shots with some good ball-movement to force the defense to rotate and attack the holes in the defense.

i hear what you guys are saying and I think of how Ripp was deadly from mid range. I do like that Lamb was Elite from mid range and his form on his jumper is excellent usually. With his elevation and long arms it looks very smooth. His silkiness on the pull up is very encouraging and his handle will help him get there.

I hope he is able to do what is needed to improve those %s from range.

Better selection, smarter play, and lots of repetition in practice.

His ceiling is limmitted otherwise.

What? His ceiling is not limited to that. Why can't he get a dribble drive game with increased NBA spacing and that yoyo handle? Why can't he improve his assists with better teammates? Why can't he become a lockdown defender with that length and Casey's coaching?
