As a Raptor Jamario Moon shot 34% from NBA 3point range and we cringed when he shot the 3.
Just some perspective to Lambs long ball.

cdel00 wrote:Ug that is worrisome because the mid range game where Lamb is excellent is really hard to get to in the NBA. Its not gonna be as easy for Lamb to get to his spot when teams know where that spot is. Lambs limited effectiveness from long range needs the most improvement as he transitions to the bigs.
If Lamb catches the ball on the 3pnt line defenders will just play the drive and let him shoot, without a 40% from 3 shot he'll be hard pressed vs NBA defenses.

Undefeated wrote:Lamb took too many off the dribble 3-pointers which is why his 3-pt% is relatively low. It's not that he can't make them off the bounce, but I wouldn't look into his ability to shoot the long ball too deeply as it isn't a true reflection of his shooting. If Lamb can take smarter shots from deep you can expect his 3-pt% to climb back up.
It's like Kobe Bryant. He takes so many hand-in-the-face pull-up 20-footers off the dribble well behind the 3-point line that his 3-pt% takes a hit. When he has his feet set and spotting up, he's money. It's the same scenario with Lamb here.
To add on what FluLikeSymptoms said in his last paragraph, with coach Casey running a flex offense I think it'll open up the floor for Lamb to get his mid-range game off with all the various screens and cuts that are happening all at once. If Lamb makes the correct read, he'll easily make the catch for a one dribble pull-up at the elbow. If not, he can be the secondary ball-handler initiating the pick-and-roll to look for his own offense. It's not that hard to get Lamb his mid-range shots with some good ball-movement to force the defense to rotate and attack the holes in the defense.

cdel00 wrote:i hear what you guys are saying and I think of how Ripp was deadly from mid range. I do like that Lamb was Elite from mid range and his form on his jumper is excellent usually. With his elevation and long arms it looks very smooth. His silkiness on the pull up is very encouraging and his handle will help him get there.
I hope he is able to do what is needed to improve those %s from range.
Better selection, smarter play, and lots of repetition in practice.
His ceiling is limmitted otherwise.
