Yeah, Mullin also then traded away those contracts as soon as he realized they were mistakes.

Say what you will about Mullin, but he learned from his mistakes and made better decisions as his tenure went on.

He was lucky enough one GM was crazy enough to trade for them. The Pacers couldn't trade them further until they were expiring...

So, should it be held against the Pacers that we got Roy Hibbert, but we got lucky in dumping JO in the process? Doesn't a GM who learns from their mistakes work every angle to move their mistakes, and shouldn't they at least be viewed with some better hindsight for correcting their errors?

I'd rather have Pritchard. My gut reaction was that Pritchard was a Larry guy and that Donnie would bring in Donnie guys.

seems like Larry didn't just
set up the roster for a good
future, but also the front
office.

i think walsh will see the
good of Larry's work and is
secure enough in his own
legacy that he wouldn't
make moves just for the
sake of making his mark.

but just have to say, though,
i'll sure miss Larry's eye for
talent in the draft. hope he's
still on board on draft night
if we're going to use a pick
at whatever number.

Whoever you want it to be.

Pritchard, but only because the links with Roy and Oden and the unlikeliness of him crossing Eric Gordon of his target list because of the injuries he has had.
I have read somewhere that Walsh wanted 1 of Murphleavy and Bird the other one, so all hope isn't lost for Mullin. My first reaction is I don't want him but he could turn out allright.
It's hard to predict these things.

Let's hope that Pritchard stays. I am sad that Larry is going to leave but let's hope it is for the best for both parties.

I'm kinda worried now :-?

This is terrible news. i hope Pritchard is the GM; Its definitely not exciting to picture Mullin taking over the position at such a critical stage in developing the team. Not to mention what about Vogel? Pritchard and Vogel are Larry's guys; I hope that the front office doesnt completely change for Vogel's sake. The team doesnt need any uncertainty going into or during next season about coaching changes.

I think that trade was made for 2 reasons,to add 2 vets to help clean up the off court problems, and to clear future cap space which happend in both ways

Of course the Pacers were forced to unload talent for crap after the brawl.. This has always been common knowledge.

Zeke wasn't around to control the team he started and they didn't respect Rick.

Such a sad thing, but everybody knew this is going to happen in a year or two, so i am not really surprised. Larry's just being Larry, and he deserves a break for all the hard work he put into this organization. He could be in semi-retirement mode, looking to spend more time with his family and live a stress-free life. He deserves it.

On a good note, Walsh and Pritchard aren't new to the business, they are seasoned vets for their positions and they did well. I am curious which way these two guys will go, but i think they will listen to Larry's advice and opinion, being the builder of this team.
