People also have this idea on their head that Gose will be a super star defensive player in CF simply because he's fast like its an unquestionable trend. Speed and CF defence usually tend to go hand in hand but there are plenty of fast guys that play a mediocre centrefield with our own Rajai Davis being a perfect example of that.
You made it clear you don't the 21 year old AAA player who can repeat the level and still be a top tier prospect, who cut down his K% 4%+ this season who started off with a sky high 30% K% in April (but since has been an astounding 20% K%).
If you take out his performance before switching stances, you will see that he has come light years ahead of last season. Even his BB% since has been 11.2% (which is a career high) and he has batted .306 since. He is no Brett Lawrie but in CF, a defensive premium position, (which he has one of the best arms in our system, as well as great speed and defense [yes I said speed AND defense] he threw 97 MPH in HS as a lefty) you will trade a little bit of average for defense. Colby is also a plus defender but it's fair to say Gose has a better arm, and more speed (which will get him more chances).
Gose shouldn't be looked at as anything less than a blue chip prospect. He is a premier CF prospect and has plenty room to improve. John Sickels (an actual scout, whose opinion matters more than yours IMO) put him 8th best in the minors out of outfielders.
Would I call up Gose now? No. We don't have a need at any of the OF positions, and Gose isn't at a stage where I think it's fair to his development to rush him. He will (should) repeat the level in AAA, although he took massive strides in terms of lowering his K% and seeing the ball better (and OPSing above .800 not including his April). The problem with reading too much into him not hitting in Vegas is that he made a mechanical change this season. It's like looking at Bautista's career numbers and calling him junk.
Although I think he should repeat the level, I bet he could post numbers in the .250/.320/.400 range if called up immediately, with excellent base running and defense (including arm, range, and glove). Feel free to disagree but stop saying "sell high" on him. There is a reason all professionals like him and you (a fan) doesn't. I'm not going to say who is right but... I'm more likely to side with people paid to do what you do in your spare time.
EDIT: I wouldn't trade Rasmus at the moment either. I don't feel it's a sell high, considering he just pieced it together recently and his stats are still messed with his slow start. This isn't a problem this year, Gose isn't forcing anybodys hand.
