They got the 8th pick this season with Bargs injured most of the season. Now they're adding Lowry, Ross, Fields and Valanciunas. I don't see how they can get worse.

I really don't know what Morey is trying to do. If the idea is to rebuild, why make such big offers for Jeremy Lin, Asik and try a S&T for Gordon ? That doesn't make any sense.

Thanks, but "can't get worse" is not exactly a ringing endorsement :(

P.S. do Rockets fans know what the final proposed trade was during the draft? When Drummond fell to us at 8, was it our pick for Lowry and 12? Just asking, as Colangelo bashing is in full swing on the Raptors board, for turning down the deal without having a 99.9% guarantee from Nash.

like this trade somewhat but the Rockets are finally going in the right direction. I will the Raptors won this one. To go from the 8 for Lowry which could have gotten us Drummond to whatever this deal is a loss for the Rockets

Was not that. Would more likely have been Lowry and either the 16th or the 18th or even just Lowry

I'm surprised Morey just let Dragic walk like that, especially considering he's restricted... he probably could've convinced PHX to send Marshall to Houston if they hadn't made it so public about Dragic not getting matched.

And like someone said, Calderon makes sense (assuming Toronto amnesties him and Houston stays under the cap to make a bid). Felton doesn't IMO, but Sessions does. Actually Sessions seems like many of the PGs that have excelled in Houston recently (from Brooks to Lowry to Dragic).

 Why would The Rockets do that? They are banking on that pick yielding them a good late lotto pick for them next year. Bayless isn't worth that much, I think The Rockets should be waiting for Calderon to hit the waiver wire and pick him up short term. He's a great tank commander to help you get a top pick and Calderon + Martin in the back court would be a sure fire way to get those extra ping pong balls for Shabazz or Nerlens Noel or Cody Zeller or James McAdoo.

If you need a guy right now I guess the two best names left are Sessions and Felton

Pretty sure Houston would have just included Bayless in the original deal if they wanted him

EDIT: For extra LOLs, the Raptors just pulled the QO for Bayless, basically saying they'd rather risk losing him for nothing then have to give him a 1 year, $4M contract. Clearly the kind of guy who's worth a guaranteed lotto pick.

This is a deal that would never have any traction in the trade board. It would been blasted by posters.

I don't even like Lowry, but for Forbes and a strangely protected 1st,

Heck, why not?

As a rockets fan im not happy with this trade. This means the rockets are ready to tank hard. Scola will be traded for crap expiring next week imo.

Listened to Morey on the radio - sounded like he was preparing fans for a 20 win season or two.

About time - if we had crashed hard a year or two ago we might have gotten Davis.

Word is that no, they don't.

'Word' is wrong.

Lars is right.

If the Raptors make the playoffs every year the first 5 years, the pick is completely unprotected in year 6 and the Rockets get it.

Apparently a guaranteed lottery pick is worth more on the trade market than Lowry was.

Hence the reason for making the trade.

Thats irrelevant. Everything they are doing is for the Dwight Howard move.

The market is overloaded with PGs. Sessions, Lin and Felton are servicable PGs and still available.

Its all laid out here:

^^^ Would Howard extend with Houston?
