I would say that you're delusional, CCJ, but that would be conservative. Roger Mason has proven he can play and contribute to one of the best teams in the league. Mo Almond, at the same age in his career, is mucking it up with stragglers on a summer league team, and will probably end up either in Europe or in the NBDL this coming season. The guy is cooked. Now if he comes back and learns how to be a good pro ala Cartier Martin, then he may make it as a late-career contributor. Right now, he just isn't any good at all.
As for comparing him to Jordan Crawford...maybe he is better...maybe he isn't. Crawford shouldn't be some standard at which to gauge whether a player is any good or not, because he sucks too.
TGW, I think you think you are smart and you are not. I think you are rude, obnoxious, and not man enough to admit when you are wrong. People like you bring out the anger in me, and that is fine.
I repeat. Roger Mason's career started out the same way as Almond's. His first three season's stats are about the same. Washington gave him a chance after his first go round in the league. What he has proven he did so after getting the opportunity by the Wizards.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... nro01.htmlMason played with Chicago and Detroit, before being given an opportunity in 2006 by the Wizards. He was 26 years old. That helped him get playing time with San Antonio. Now, he is an older, respected veteran.
TGW, you're saying Almond has no shot and I'm saying if you want to call me delusional I will say you aren't that smart. Almond just turned 27. His first three years in the league have numbers similar to Mason's. He is at the same point when Mason got his opportunity.
As for the Crawford comparison, it is the position that Jordan plays that concerns me. As a Wizards SG, I think a whole lot of players would be a better choice. Better players than Morris Almond or even Cartier Martin are out there. However, judging by last season's feel good ending, I would have been happy seeing both guys there and Crawford traded.
Jordan is a young guy and he can create offense. He's had a 39 point game. He's not too dissimilar in usage from an Allen Iverson but his problem is he takes bad shots without a conscience. In the end, he'll keep his spot. I'm not saying Almond is to be compared to him. Merely, that I like to see people who hang in there get a chance.
Also, I disagree with a lot of what Ernie and the Wizards do.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... nmo01.htmlI pull for guys like Almond and Cartier Martin. I don't compromise what I believe in because someone disagrees or thinks I am, putting it conservatively, delusional. I am lot of things TGW, but what I really am is a guy who knows more than you do about basketball and probably a whole range of topics.
