Did you mean MarShon Brooks? He's undoubtedly distracted by the trade talk, but 0-10 as a "veteran" in a Summer League game? Ouch.

Interesting, looking at the Magic's box score. Justin Harper (who went 2 picks before us last year, many here were hoping we'd get him) looks to have had a good game, scoring 15 points on 6/9 shooting, 2/4 from three. They may see him as a future replacement for Anderson.

And Andrew Nicholson looks to have had quite an impressive debut. 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks. (The 6 fouls could be a concern, if you're looking for something to criticize.)

I'm not sure either one of them is a full-time starter down the road, but both should be solid rotation players. When we start shedding the Okafors & Arizas, I'd love to look into going after one of those guys.

Hmmmm - in fact, maybe in 2014, I assume, is when Harper would become an RFA? Might be worth keeping an eye on him as a potential stretch 4 / tweener Forward. Could be worth an offer sheet at that point.

Not that I'm getting ahead of myself or anything....

And I just saw a tweet that Harper could be part of the Dwight deal. Not sure why Orlando would be sending out more value, that doesn't make sense to me. But if there was a way to get in on it and bring him aboard, I'd be in favor!

So, do we need another thread for non-Wizards summer league games? 'cause it's really easy to get geeked up about Summer League. (If you're already a geek to begin with, that is.)

Kim English: Game-high 18 points on 5-9 FG, 3-4 3P, and 5-5 FT in a Pistons win over the Jazz. Might have made a nice pick at #46....... if we had the 46th pick, that is.

Oh, and Kanter's line looked pretty bad. 1-7, 3 points, 5 rebounds, 4 TOs, -17 +/-, in a team-high 28 minutes. Interesting to see Derrick Williams & Kanter these days - I'm not even sure the most ardent anti-Ernie posters would trade Vesely straight up for either of them. (I'd be interested if only because Wall seemed to want to play with Kanter, but he still hasn't shown a whole lot for a top-3 pick.)

I would say that you're delusional, CCJ, but that would be conservative. Roger Mason has proven he can play and contribute to one of the best teams in the league. Mo Almond, at the same age in his career, is mucking it up with stragglers on a summer league team, and will probably end up either in Europe or in the NBDL this coming season. The guy is cooked. Now if he comes back and learns how to be a good pro ala Cartier Martin, then he may make it as a late-career contributor. Right now, he just isn't any good at all.

As for comparing him to Jordan Crawford...maybe he is better...maybe he isn't. Crawford shouldn't be some standard at which to gauge whether a player is any good or not, because he sucks too.

TGW, I think you think you are smart and you are not. I think you are rude, obnoxious, and not man enough to admit when you are wrong. People like you bring out the anger in me, and that is fine.

I repeat. Roger Mason's career started out the same way as Almond's. His first three season's stats are about the same. Washington gave him a chance after his first go round in the league. What he has proven he did so after getting the opportunity by the Wizards.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... nro01.html

Mason played with Chicago and Detroit, before being given an opportunity in 2006 by the Wizards. He was 26 years old. That helped him get playing time with San Antonio. Now, he is an older, respected veteran.

TGW, you're saying Almond has no shot and I'm saying if you want to call me delusional I will say you aren't that smart. Almond just turned 27. His first three years in the league have numbers similar to Mason's. He is at the same point when Mason got his opportunity.

As for the Crawford comparison, it is the position that Jordan plays that concerns me. As a Wizards SG, I think a whole lot of players would be a better choice. Better players than Morris Almond or even Cartier Martin are out there. However, judging by last season's feel good ending, I would have been happy seeing both guys there and Crawford traded.

Jordan is a young guy and he can create offense. He's had a 39 point game. He's not too dissimilar in usage from an Allen Iverson but his problem is he takes bad shots without a conscience. In the end, he'll keep his spot. I'm not saying Almond is to be compared to him. Merely, that I like to see people who hang in there get a chance.

Also, I disagree with a lot of what Ernie and the Wizards do.

I pull for guys like Almond and Cartier Martin. I don't compromise what I believe in because someone disagrees or thinks I am, putting it conservatively, delusional. I am lot of things TGW, but what I really am is a guy who knows more than you do about basketball and probably a whole range of topics.

Marshon Brooks in his first 9 NBA regular season starts (January 2012) averaged 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists on .451 FG shooting.

Go ahead and say he sucks. We will see over his career.

Andrew Nicholson will be a guy just like Al Jefferson or Carlos Boozer. No way he shouldn't have gone in the lottery. It won't shock me if Nicholson emerges as a ROY candidate. He is going to be a very good NBA player. Much better than Harrison Barnes, Austin Rivers, and Perry Jones.

Hey, I thought Marshon Lynch was too slow to make it big in the NFL, but he had one of the all-time greatest post-season runs. So, maybe Marshon Brooks will also prove me wrong. My impression of Brooks (and I really haven't seen enough of him to have a complete impression) is that he's not a good team player and puts up empty stats. Basically, he's the kind of player I would not want to play with - he's like JR Smith with a bit less shooting touch.

Looks like Sullinger is already showing off his 3 point range. Impressive.

PJIII looked good too. It's ludicrous that both these guys fell to the 20's.

The Bucks - with Jarrid "not so" Famous (6'11 240) - are set to clash with the Wiz on July 18th in Las Vegas. http://www.nba.com/bucks/release/bucks- ... gue-roster
This will mark Aaron Miles' 27th year in the Summer League.

Very interesting picture. Anything stand out to you?

Image

Take a look at how they split up the jerseys. Wearing blue:

Beal
Singleton
Vesely
Mack
Satoransky
One other dude

Wearing white:

Everyone else

So what does that tell us? They haven't split up guys by veteran vs. rookie, b/c Beal & TS haven't played a game in the NBA yet. I think it's an obvious marker of who has a chance to make the team and who doesn't. If you're wearing white, you'd better have a phenomenal camp and shoot lights out in Vegas or it's back to Estonia for you.

Which brings us to the unidentified white dude wearing the blue jersey. Hmm, makes me think Mr. Randolph has a better chance of sticking than I gave him credit for when I read he was an invitee....

Or they needed a C to scrimmage with the A group.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Ah summer league....where everyone is an all star if you dominate d-leaguers and third stringers.

eh, I'd rate Shavlik more of a D+, but if you want to grade him a C on the curve, I guess I could see that... ;-)

Yeah, probably right. But then again, they could have given Garret Siler the blue jersey.

OK, I have to stop now. This is pathetic.
