It took medical reports for them to figure this out?

The reality is, Asik really is a power forward he just plays center sometimes for the Bulls. He's more suited for the 4 spot as an energy player off of the bench.

Isn't Taj Gibson their backup 4?

Thanks for that, I was too lazy to read to the end of the article and didn't see it my first time through. Shouldn't be a surprise, but I will admit, I was worried they weren't concerned about his foot.

Is there any concrete proof that Houston is offering something? Because I for one don't believe they are anywhere near this thing. It doesn't make sense for them to trade for Dwight one bit. They aren't a very good team so why would they give up potentially high picks for an obvious 1 yr rental. But if they are offering thats probably our best bet.

The picks they would give up wouldn't be that good.

It makes a lot of sense for them, because Houston is a team that is stuck in the middle. Not bad enough to truly rebuild, but not good enough to contend. A team who will between the 7 and 10 seed in the West every year, and has been for awhile. They're looking to take Dwight, and try to convince him to stay. If he doesn't, then he walks...and the stuff they gave up for him makes them so horrible they can rebuild from rock bottom. If he stays, they could end up with some cap flexibility in the not so distant future to bring in another star.

They're a relatively good sized market, with a top notch front office...and wouldn't have any issues getting another star in there.

Houston going for Howard is really a low risk, high reward scenario for them. Makes all the sense in the world when you think about it logically. Most NBA teams don't think this way, but they should. You either want to be on top, or on the very bottom for a rebuild. Being in the middle is the worst case scenario.

Says who? He's a 7 footer who can't play more than 5 feet from the basket. Sounds like a center to me.

Yeah a guy who averages 15/4/3 a game off the bench is worthless. I won't even mention his leadership. Oh wait. I did.

Gee Dwight, we tried to trade you to the Nets but our doctors just wouldn't sign off on Lopez.

If this thing was about the Magic getting the "best deal" Howard would have been a Laker weeks ago. I see nothing but a bluff here.

I'm tired of this Jarrod guy. Doesn't he realize Howard can't impregnate him...

He is Howard's proctologist.

Please explain how the Nets help us with a rebuild? A deal with them likely eats up more cap space of the next several seasons than if we just let Dwight walk outright, thanks to Brook Lopez likely getting a max deal.

Unless we find another taker for Lopez that gets us an extra pick as well, Brooklyn's proposed deals = The Super Pu-Pu Platter, with a side of the runs. It doesn't even help us bottom out. The starting 5 would still be better than the crappy teams like the Bobcats, Wiz, and most of the other teams that missed the playoffs in a weak East.

To me, it's Houston or bust. Any other deal leaves us in mediocrity, and keeps us from a true rebuild.

You guys can't win this... He's gone and more teams will create capspace as time moves forward, heck Atlanta did it in 24 hours.

because Atlanta's market is soooo much better than Orlando's.... and CP3 will leave LA Clips where he has good talent to come to Atl

You don't think Chris Paul will leave Blake Griffin for Dwight Howard & Josh Smith? C'mon man stop being a homer.

I think he should do that if it were an option, but weren't you the person just pimping how important market size is?

He was their starting SG. I'm not saying he was worthless, just that their problems weren't on offense. They still would have had the same issues stopping the Spurs.

Rob: Hey Dwight we tried to do the trade with Brooklyn but our doctors would not sign off on Lopez.

Dwight: What, is his foot that bad?

Rob: No, our doctors have seen his game footage.

Well, first of all there are a lot of power forwards in the league who can't play more than 5 feet from the basket. And secondly, Asik isn't a 7 footer. Having seen him in person, he's not taller than 6'10.
