Who cares about Robin. We want them to go after Brook. He used a play on words to fool people.

...and it worked, lol.

But anyone else wondering if Cleveland got involved in the deal as a means to derail it at the last minute? Dan Gilbert has always stated how infuriated he is by the new "superteams" being created.

Get involved, get Nets fans and ESPN all lathered up, then roll over and tell them you have a headache.

That would be funny. Like he agreed to the deal in principle and then the next am his email box sent out auto-responders "out of office until 2018."

Wooooooooooooo. Think this guy is full of crap though...

I dunno. He was first to break the Brooklyn talks, which everyone picked up on shortly afterwards. I pray it's true.

He was first but you should take his reports (generally) with a giant horse-pill size grain of salt. He did have info on Cleveland being involved, and that appeared to be true. But his track record is very poor overall.

Two points from a Knicks fan:

1) Tommy Dee is not trustworthy.

2) That tweet is ROBIN Lopez, Brook's twin brother (and fellow RFA) from the Suns.

Reminds me of the movie Hall Pass. Where the married guys want to bang everything but their wives - get a whiff of freedom - and then come crawling back with their tails between their legs.

Having said that... ain't gonna happen.

I'm somewhat surprised that the Celtics and Magic can't come up with a deal since a short term Howard rental makes the most sense to Boston. Perhaps, Orlando's desire for cap relief and Boston's desire to not upset Rondo unless they know it would work are preventing serious discussions...assuming they haven't already previously occurred. The other mitigating factor is the Celtics may rather be a playoff team for 5-6 years with Rondo helping lead them then a more serious title contender for 2 and then a lottery team.

Rondo + Bass + 2 unprotected first round picks years into the future(2017, 2019) and a very early second round pick next year. Sure Orlando doesn't have a need for Bass but he has agreed to a reasonable extension so he can be flipped by Orlando for an expiring contract if need be.

If the Magic want to just have picks and really tank, they could flip Rondo and his very reasonable contract for a couple of lottery picks around next years draft. Rondo is probably worth around the 4th and 8th picks in a typical draft. But in last years draft, 80% of Celtics fans wouldn't have traded him for even that because the Celtics are in win now mode and rebuild in a few years.

This trade would only make sense from Boston's perspective if Howard was willing to sign a one year extension to give Howard/KG/PP/Bradley/Sullinger a two year window to compete for a title.

After that, the Celtics could trade him to NY/Brooklyn for 3 first round picks and an expiring contract.

If Howard did sign in Boston for more then just one additional year, then perhaps the trade agreement could have a clause that Orlando gets another number 1 pick.

Lastly, I realize my trade suggestion isn't "fair value" for Howard but I do think its better then the other proposals I have heard and that are somewhat realistic. I'd so much rather have Rondo at 12 million then Lopez at more its not even funny. And I'd rather have Rondo at his reasonable contract then Bynum on a much more expensive contract. Maybe the Houston or Atlanta offers could potentially be better.

Boston should be willing to do a 2 year rental of Howard but it makes no sense for a team like OKC. The Celtics can possibly placate his agent and Howard by promising him to trade him to the Knicks, Nets, Chicago or the Clippers after the two years are up.

I have to be honest, and I'm probably in the minority here. But if Dwight said he wanted to patch things up tomrrow, and stay...I'd still want to move him and begin a rebuild.

I have way too much anymosity towards him now, and while I want to win...I also want guys with character playing for my hometown team. I don't want douchehats leading the way.

I'm one of the few fans who think integrity and character should actually be just a step ahead of winning.

In fairness, wouldn't just about everyone like to try a three way, at least once?

Ok, sorry, just felt like the line needed to be used.

I agree in general, but isn't forgiveness a part of good character? My problem would be believing he wouldn't pull something else two years down the road or whatever, but if I thought he was sincere then i could move past it.

I don't know if I would be so sure about that. But if I'm Henny, the only way I keep him is if he signs an extension right away.
