When Dwight leaves there will literally be nothing left on that team.

Where will Dwight be leaving to?

Anywhere. Houston will be awful next year even with Dwight. They are gutting their team so they can surround Dwight with what exactly?

They will be just as bad as the Magic were. And in the west that barely makes the playoffs.

I don't think a lot of people realize that the Rockets can't trade their 2014 pick in any deal for Howard. If he leaves the Rockets suck and likely end up with a top 5 pick the next year. It's really a win/win for a team stuck in mediocrity.

Or the Rockets could have that pick, all their young players, and all their young picks.

Not credible enough for hoopshype. Think about that for a second.

McLaed is legit, trust me. IIRC, he called the Stern-Paul veto trade.

Could go to Dallas or Atlanta. Leaving Houston for one of those teams is easier than leaving LA.

And general question to people out there:

Couldn't Dwight as a free agent ask Houston (if he's traded there) to do a sign and trade for him to the Nets? Like, if he says "I'm going to Dallas and you're going to get nothing, unless you do a sign and trade and send me to the Nets in the off-season".

Not trying to be a homer, just want to know. Asking because that's what people said D-Will could do if he wanted the Lakers in the off-season.

I'm pretty sure next season sign & trades are prohibited to any team above the luxury tax.

What exactly is Houston offering for Howard? And what will their lineup look like if they do get him?

I don't care. Dwight can go wherever. I've accepted the fact that he's most probably not going to Brooklyn.

starting next season there are no S&Ts for luxury tax teams. So there would be no Nash trade or Camby to the Knicks if that rule was already in place.

So if Dwight isn't a Net in the next 10 days don't expect him to be one ever.

okay, are you the ceo or the vp in houston?

And who are you to pretend you have any more authority than the rest of us here? It is simply logic that getting Bynum as the centerpiece doesn't work for a team when they don't have a strong supporting cast. Houston + Bynum - the assets they traded is far from contention, and Bynum is going to be paid 18 mil next year so the Rockets have very little time to build around Bynum before they cap out.

If Dwight is getting moved they will want Dwight to land in Houston. There is no reason to settle for Bynum when a re-signed Bynum will just cripple their cap flexibility while remaining mediocre.

You honestly think dwight will stay in Houston with what they have there? Do you really? He will leave money on the table for a major market and get back the rest of the money from his adidas enrosement. You can guarantee that. If you thought the lakers were gambling on dwight resigning then the rockets are playing russian roullete with 6 bullets in the chamber. Its your logic that doesn't make sense, the fact that the 3 said teams were already engaged in talks makes you even less credible. Stop posting.

If Orlando dont want to deal with Houston straight up then they would be stupid not to take Bynum. Whats the point of gathering all those mediocore assets and multiple players at the same position if it doesnt amount to anything. Plus Bynum listed Houston as a place on his list of favs

Only problem for Houston is that they have nothing to surround Dwight with to convince him that they are contenders.

HOU is going all in. If dwight leaves they tank for a top pick and rebuild the right way. good for them

Where will Dwight be leaving to?

Exactly. We have 1 year to change his mind. Might as well.

All it took for Deron was Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace. And Deron had the option of Dallas with Dirk and playing in his hometown.

I think there is a very good chance he stays in Houston after The Dream works him along with management.

I'd do it.

They pick would likely be higher with a stripped down team than it would be if we kept our rookies and they developed and won us more games. it's definitely a risk to trade for Howard but it's not as huge as people are making it out to be. Also, if the Rockets realized that Howard really doesn't want to be here they could likely trade him at the deadline for Bynum if the Lakers aren't playing amazingly or something else of value.
