I still think he's going to the Nets by the end of this.
What makes you say that

As trash as the nets package is, someone major (Stein maybe?) on Twitter pointed out that it does offer the Magic a combination of a centerpiece (I know sucks, but still) in Lopez, cap relief in moving JRich, and Picks. No other package (yet) offers all 3.

Can the Cavs sneak into the playoffs?

Re: Lakers - Rockets - Magic Talk trade
The only picks that would be useful are the ones from the rockets, depending on the protection they have. Both the Nets and the Lakers picks will be in the 20's.
In that case, cap relief and talent is better. Of course, all three would be ideal.

Stein said theres a feeling this will drag out a little longer. More conflicting sources. Dont get too excited yet.

That depends on the Houston package. A good enough cap relief+prospect package should not require Houston to take on Hedo or J-Rich, especially since Dwight won't commit to an extension. The Magic are more likely going to require a salary dump on the Lakers for any Bynum deals, and all we have are smaller bad contracts to send out.
It's been said that the Lakers are willing to take J-rich for expiring. With Ebanks signing a 1 year deal, that becomes more likely.
In terms of trade value alone, Bynum is much higher than whatever picks/prospects Houston have.
If there's any part where they can trump the Lakers offer is (I originally assume) their willingness to take Hedo and J-rich. Since you're saying that they're not even gonna do that, the Lakers offer still make more sense for the Magic.

Final prediction:
Nothing will happen tomorrow. This drags out all the summer and the Nets pull out tomorrow. But we'll see what happens.

I've never said that I thought he was going to the Nets throughout this thread. You guys are letting your irrational hate of me paint me into something I am not.

Bynum who is due for a 5 year 100 million extension is not much higher in value than the Houston package if at all. Trading for Bynum gives the Magic very little time to readjust the roster for Bynum, and that could get problematic if they couldn't dump J-Rich or Hedo.

Besides, Hedo is the guy that is truly difficult to move, so I would imagine that any Dwight deal would have the Magic push hard to send Hedo away.

What makes you say that
You don't get that close to a deal without the Cavs pulling the rug out from everyone. The Magic probably saw this as one more opportunity to get a look at the trade market for Dwight and will realize for the 3rd time that the Nets offer the best package and accept a Lopez, Humphries, Brooks, Gaines, 3 contract fillers and 4 1st Round picks. I mean Houston is the only team that can compete to tackle the Nets package and all that would happen is the Dwight-circus would move to Houston which would be painfully annoying.

Find me a quote ANYWHERE where I said Dwight was going to the Nets or STFU.
I've never been confident in the Nets getting him ever. Mainly because I have no faith in the Magic's FO.

I sure hope so. The Magic have seen every possibility. Time to make a decision.
Trade for unsigned Bynum and maybe you can give them a bad contract.
Trade for Houstons which is probably gives you a **** load of picks and you can give them bad contracts.
Or Lopez, picks, and taking bad contracts.
Just make a decision Orlando. These offers are not going to change. They will only get worse.

I'm probably going to look incredibly stupid in a few hours, but why the rush to end this today? Could it be because they don't want the Nets to pull out, and so they're going to trade Howard to them?
I can dream, can't I...

I'd like to hear your rationale on how Houston's prospects have higher trade value than a 24 year old all star Center.
