Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Lol at Ves fouling out with 10 fouls in 40 minutes.
I attribute that to his weight gain (and the refs). He's a step slow. I wonder what type of weight program they have him on? Ves is a high energy player, his best attribute was his athleticism and length so I'm kind of skeptical about this. I understand the desire to get bigger but it shouldn't be at the cost of his quickness.

They seem to like players that know how to shoot the basketball, as opposed to our latest draft strategy of preferring athletic, defensive-minded, good-character players over guys with actual basketball skills. Strange concept but seems to be working for them.

Nice guys finish last. No, nice guys who have no skill finish last.
Mr Grundle, you are on point IMO about the Wizards' strategy. I think what they need to do is get an offensive-minded big, with good character and a veteran, offensive-minded, backup PG. The Wizards just need to balance it out IMO. Throw some sharp shooters into the mix. Guys with good character.
I like the way that John Jenkins plays on offense. ATL is going to love that guy. I wish the Wizards had found a way to get Beal and Jenkins, because I think Jenkins will be able to play some PG and also be a starting SG with seriously good ball skills.

Motiejunas, Chandler Parsons, Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, Terrence Jones, Scott Machado, Gregg Smith, Jon Leuer and Marcus Morris -- plus a few others.
All of them going to work out? No, of course not. But there'll be some very good players come out of the round 2 and undrafted guys on that list.
Somehow I don't think our SL roster represents the same kind of intelligence.
I'm really really SICK of Ernie Grunfield; trying to avoid just being sick of the whole franchise. Finished with it.
Former Jefferson High School stars Terrence Ross and Terrence Jones, both taken in the first round of last month's NBA draft, met again Friday in a Summer League game in Las Vegas.
Jones came off the bench for the Houston Rockets and had 17 points and nine rebounds in 25 minutes. He was 8 of 8 from the free throw line. Ross started for the Toronto Raptors and scored 21 points, to go with three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 32 minutes.
Ross, a 6-foot-6 guard and Oregon's 2008 Class 5A player of the year, was selected with the eighth pick by Toronto after his sophomore season at Washington. Jones, a 6-9 forward and 5A player of the year in 2009 and 2010, went 18th to Houston after his sophomore season at Kentucky.

Ves came out and made a few nice jumpers early and the rest of his makes were dunks. It is true that he missed about 3 dunks BUT they were all on alleyoops so it may have been a timing thing on some of them and on one of them he was fouled. I thought his lift was fine. Overall he had a fairly nice game although he was visibly upset with all the foul calls. My Grade B-
Beal looked really good and his makes were all over the floor, so I like the way he mixed up his offensive game. I don't think he got any rebounds but I did see him get a nice block. My Grade B+
Singleton's stats make it look like he had a nice game but my eyes told me different. In the first half when the Zards were steadily getting out scored, he was non-existent. Most of his scoring came in the second half after the Zards were already down by 20+ points. His handle and jumper still doesn't look very good IMO. My Grade C-
Tomas was not very impressive either. If he is going to make it in the NBA he will need to prove that he can be a catch & shoot 2 guard but I don't recall seeing him attempted to do that even once in the game. He played to his "stength" by handling the ball a lot when he was in and trying to create off the dribble. He was trapped at least 2 or 3 times and gave up the turn-over each time if I recall correctly. My Grade D
Mack was terrible although he showed a lot of hustle, especially pressuring the guy bringing the ball up... but he wasn't very effective at it. I just don't see the talent and I am not sure why he is even on the roster. My Grade D
The rest of the Zards SL team might be the worse collection of players I have ever seen.
Silver Linings... The Hawks shot out of their minds (over 50%) for most of the game I believe and the Zards defense wasn't THAT bad. It seemed like as many as a dozen of the Hawks makes were right at the buzzer, no lie. Also, the refs (especially the one female ref) was calling an extremely tight game and you could see the frustration on some of the players faces, especially Ves and Singleton.
I watched it like is was a summer league game and I had ADD. Thanks for this analysis, zardsfan.
Three comments:
1. You grade harder than I do, zardsfan. Beal exceeded my expectations. I would give him an A.
2. Tomas Satoransky wasn't terrible but on seeing him play, I wonder just how good Will Barton will be. Every year Ernie makes a terrible blunder. Nothing new with the pick, but I would have no problem with Tomas as #46 pick. Crowder or Barton at 32 is going to be something we think about a lot this season.
3. ATLANTA SHOT THE HECK OUT OF THE BALL! I think their SL team could beat the team the Wizard started the season with and perhaps even the end of the season team, too. John Jenkins is a beast. I was impressed with Keith Benson, too. Brad Wannemaker wanna make an NBA squad (sorry). He can play well.
