Yeah, okay, enough drama for now.

Im starting to believe Dolan is just trolling Morey.
If we're not matching, why wait at all? Just decline and move on.
I think we'll match Tuesday at the last hour.

Dolan won't pay tens of millions in luxury taxes, he might match Lin but then it will begin a process of figuring out who will stay and who will go before that 3rd year balloon payment hits. That's what we should do though, bring back Lin and figure it out from there.

Just view it as 8,8,8 for a second. Is it really that bad? Knicks have no choice but to pay it in 5,5,15. Nonetheless, Lin will be getting the same amount of money.

And that's the quote we're talking about as opposed to no quotes from Lin supporting the "he's frosty" sentiment. Now, if Melo came out and said he didn't say that, then it'd be the same situation.

Dolan: "Jeremy, let me ask you something. How did you, as a Harvard educated young man, think that it was wise to f*ck with a billionaire over a few million?
Lin: [taken aback] Well...I...
Dolan: No, don't answer that. My number guys all advised me that it was foolish to match - that I'd be hemorrhaging money in the third year of the deal.
Lin: Why do it then?
Dolan: Because I can, Jeremy; because I can. I realized, after the initial shock/anger of the reworking of your offer sheet, that I'm going to enjoy owning your career for the next three years, no matter what the cost.
Lin: [shocked] Wait, what?
Dolan: Go downstairs now, run along. Enjoy the locker room and spending the next 3 years with guys who resent you being overpaid due to your ethnicity.
Lin: What? They're my teammates, they don't -
Dolan: - Oh, I forgot to mention that we had a team event last night where I announced to the organization that I had chosen to personally match your offer sheet because of how much revenue you bring in for off-court reasons.
Lin: ...
Dolan: Your nickname in this office will forever be "My Baker", because you're going to make me so much cake, young man. I think Woody is waiting for you at practice - you shouldn't be late. You might want to avoid being alone with Felton and/or JR for a while, too. I'm so glad you're a Knick, Jeremy, so glad.

EXACTLY! 5 million for the first 2 years is nothing.

If that guy helps your company make a lot of money and you benefit from his work then I guess you can be ok with that. Especially if like Melo, Amare and Tyson, you're still paid much more money than the new executive. And let's not forget Lin was on a minimum salary contract the past two years.
Yeah, it's one thing for JR to feel that way, but it sounded like he was talking about other players too. PRetty much everybody else should be **** ecstatic with the money they're getting.

Seriously.
If anything Melo should give some of his salary of last season to Lin for saving his ass from missing the playoffs.

It's really not about the quote. Ton of people have been reporting that there was some bad blood.
Who? because let's than a week ago melo during a interview said he wanted Lin back, so when did the bad blood start?

What is jealous about that? It is ridiculous. End of story. Doesnt mean he is jealous or mad that Lin is getting it. It was just an honest statement.

Doubt it after what Melo and JR Smith said. Why would Lin want to come back now?
Lin doesn't have a choice if the Knicks match it.
Just like Gordon didn't have a choice when he told NOH to stay the hell away from him.

It seems you are ignoring everyone telling you that Knicks/Dolan have a history of overspending and have the unlimited resources to do so. How did guys like Eddy Curry/Jerome James/Allan Houston get money from the Knicks? Wasn't Dolan willing to overpay for them?
Sigh. No offense, but it's difficult to talk to people on this board when they are full of emotion. Just because the Knicks have a history of being frivolous doesn't mean they need to continue to be frivolous. In my opinion the only bad contract that we own right now is Amar'es. Lin is coming off of surgery, and played only a third of a season before he seriously injured himself. It could end up that the Knicks might just add another bad contract. It could be wrong. But I'm tired of the Knicks overpaying for lottery tickets. We did it with JJ, Eddy Curry, Allan Houston, etc. It needs to stop eventually. And Grunwald has been, in my opinion, giving out completely fair deals.

8,8,8 is still a sketchy deal for a player with a 1/3 of a season played plus a season ending injury. He could be a decent player, or he can end up being McDyess. It's still a gamble no matter how many people here want to believe Lin is a sure thing.

No, today... on ESPN for example Adande was saying there was a falling out between Lin and the team.
