We'll see how much is moved after it becomes official. This is a sizable move considering everything is mostly speculation and rumors at this point.

What it suggests if the emotional response the market is susceptible too. There ARE traders who will react to the prospect of news, rather than sound investing principles.

The stock could certainly rebound, as cooler heads prevail. But we also have to factor into the issue the fact rumors and assumption is all we have right now.

What happened at the opening bell could prove just a preview.

I'm no alarmist, I don't expect the stock to crash to pre-February level. But a demonstrative hit of 3 to 5% is a lose of valuation of 9 figures.

The truth of the matter is that the stock drop will depend on how much investors actually BELIEVE he's not matching. If the Knicks go another day with people thinking the team is not matching, and they provide no clarity or worse yet announce they are not matching, the hit MSG takes will be marked.

Once Lin is gone forever, they can expect a steady decline.

Dolan is an idiot folks. The fact that he allows JR Smith to be a major part of his team tells you everything you need to know.

You're proceeding on the assumption that:

a) the trade for Felton is not indicative of a team patching a newfound hole at point guard in what seems like a rushed, determined and emergency effort to acquire a mediocre to poor player;

b) the New York Times (certainly not a peddler of rumor and innuendo) presented an unreliable report that the Knicks are "more likely than not" going to let Lin go, according to a source briefed on their plans.

I find the above to be disturbing and most would. You happen to be more skeptical than most about pubilc reports and that's fine. But you're projecting when you say I'm an arbiter of what's proper. Your stance is to rule out everything as proper until a final announcement. That's pretty extreme.

And my comments about you believing yourself the arbiter of what's proper is just highlighting a double-standard that exists.

Last evening you made the argument that you always depended Carmelo Anthony for years in arguments against posters like TKF. So if you, you of all people, are now (irrationally) criticizing him for this situation, then it MUST be a turning point in how most if not all Knicks fans view him.

In other words, "the tide follows me. It was perfectly reasonable to defend Melo when I was, but it's no longer when I'm not."

You said it plainly - if "I'M" turning on Melo, then it MUST mean something significant.

You OFTEN begin these rants with the phrase "think about it", which is almost always followed by tortured logic in which you instruct readers to consider something you figured out that they haven't.

on July 5th when news of the first offer came out the stock was around 39 dollars...

if I was trading this stock... then I would be doing quick trades especially.... if I was short

as it looks like the market has already priced in a what if scenario...the last few weeks

stock hit a low of 35.47 today...

I cant see the stock going much lower until there is a definitive we wont match....

and you dont want to be short... hoping that there isnt a match...

Discuss the likelihood and ramifications of a possibility of even probability? Understandable.

Emotionally react to a possibility, including using deragatory language against a player (Felton) who really has no principle role in causing what think you're upset about.

Felton trade is a compelling indication. Do you know that the Blazers had renounced Felton recently? Clearly this was a last-minute maneuver.
