How do you know that he did? It could have been the other way around. It could have been Houston that up'd their offer after hearing Woodson in the media say they would match and it was a sure thing. There was no need for Lin to renegotiate, if Houston did it of their own free will. And if Houston up'd their offer, you can't exactly say, "no thanks, I'll take the previous lower offer." If he did that, Houston would remove their offer altogether, saying that Lin had no intention of signing with them and wasting their time. When Houston presented the new higher offer, thanks the the Knicks brass running their mouth on tv, the lower offer was no longer on the table for Lin to sign.
