I feel the same way. They are totally giving us the finger here.

I wish I could screw up on my job and don't have to explain myself to anyone.

Having the biggest fanbase despite not winning a title in 40 years? I think that qualifies as loyal. Fickle to anyone actually employed by their favorite team, but loyal to the team itself.

At least most of us.

*Deep Breath*

I'm 16, and my join date is 2012[Just to stop the stereotype that only "old men" think that this decision was total bull ****], and this has been one of my lowest moment as a Knicks fan. Yes, because of my young age I do not remember vividly the wonderful 1999 run, I wasn't even alive for the 94 run, I admit it. That doesn't mean I can't do my homework, that doesn't mean that I have a brain and can see that Dolan doesn't. That doesn't mean that this decision was total bull ****. What could you guys think of an explanation from Dolan out of this?I see one of four things
#1-
Reporter- Why didn't you match the offer for Jeremy Lin?
Dolan- His contract was too big for me, I couldn't take it on
Reporter- Well, you've overpaid people other people, and it's pretty likely you still get your orders from Isiah. You also made one of the best GMs of all time step down, and **** up the Rangers season too, what do you have to say about this?
Dolan- no comment

#2-
Reporter- Why didn't you match the offer for Jeremy Lin?
Dolan- We have enough point guard depth, We have 3 studs, we didn't need him.
Reporter- Well, one of them is 28 and has been out of shape for 2 years now and is coming off the worst season of his career, the other is a 35 year old rookie, and the other one is a 38 year old wife abusing Drunk, what do you have to say about this?
Dolan- no comment

#3
Reporter- Why didn't you match the offer for Jeremy Lin?
Dolan- He tried to stick it to me, I got him back, haha **** YOU!!!!

Honestly, as Mr_Perfect has pointed out over and over. What has happened since Dolan took over as owner?1 2nd round and conference finals[the year right after he took over], and a grand total of 3 playoff wins. This isn't the worst move Dolan has made by any means, but as many people have brought up already[like people in this thread or Jay Caspian King from grantland], you lost a 23 year old "asset" for nothing. Seriously, nothing. You had the upper hand too, and you got played.

As for Carmelo, I'm a big supporter of him. I believe that story about the UK bar that some poster in here said, but he was shaking his head at him for taking his "ridiculous" contract comment the wrong way. I believe that Melo, while lazy on defense, isn't a ballhog/cancer/piece of **** and worthless. If you asked me to do that trade for him again, I'd do that in a heart beat. STAT is a completely different story but I don't want to rip him in this thread

JR Smith, I don't have a problem with his "thug" personality. Stephen Jackson is known the same way, and Tim Duncan called him the "ultimate teammate", Tim Duncan called a "thug" that. It's the fact that he's inefficient, spends most of his nights at clubs[at tweets about it], isn't very good on defense[he tries though], and just brings the wrong image to this team

I'm not going to stop supporting the Knicks, and neither are 90% of the other Knicks fans. Dolan lucked out that he got the most loyal fanbase in sports, and that we'll still go to Knicks games and watch them on MSG even with this bull ****.

I can't wait until the one night Felton has a triple double[if that even happens], and the Rockets lose a game with Lin starting. You might as well close this board down until the next game. As for the **** You's
**** you Dolan
**** you JR Smith
**** you Dolan
**** you Amar'e Stoudemire

and for good measure, **** you Isiah!

Also, it's sad that we're losing so many quality posters from not only this move, but from the moves of our own fans. Seriously, "LOL IM SO EDGY **** YOU CLYDE U AIN'T A KNICKS FAN YO MOMMA A WHORE LOL!!", it's pathetic. We're the most scrutinized fanbase in the league, and we decide to fight each other. I wouldn't be shocked if we see a report tomorrow taking pictures of all the racist knick "fans" on facebook that have posted on Lins FB page, and we get painted as the evil, racist, disgusting fanbase who weren't good enough for Lin.

There's one major difference that I think put Dubs fans in a class of their own: Knicks fans had the sustained success of the Ewing era... during that same time, Warriors fans had absolutely nothing. The 2007 playoffs were the team's only sign of life in nearly 20 years.

I grew up watching the Knicks, but really started following them during the Stephon Marbury era, which was a stupid time to become a fan. Every year, it always seemed like I had hope, even if the Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph experiments turned out not to be so "formidable." But I realized today that there's something wrong with this team, and it's really not even the players' fault.

It's the culture. I love the Knicks, I really do. I loved rooting for them when we went through all the crap earlier before. I loved them even when we had Larry Brown, and our season burned and everyone was crapping on us. But I've never hated management as much as I do today.

I don't think we're ever going to build a winning organization. We don't have the owner to do that. We don't have a Mark Cuban. We have a fricking Dolan. We don't have a KG, as much as I dislike him. We don't even have an effing Lebron. We have a Carmelo Anthony, a talented player who will never be enough alone, but isn't playing like he's realized that. We have an Amare, lol. We have an owner today who let his pride dictate his decisions, even though it ended up costing him money and a better player. We have an owner who ran off Donnie Walsh, who was taking us in the right direction, and saved us from Isiah.

Over the years, I've always had hope every year, as stupid as it was, that the Knicks were going to be great. Hell, lol, I've even proposed a starting line-up with Renaldo Balkman and Mardy Collins in it once, and I was damn serious too. But right now, I finally realize, there's no hope with this fool Dolan at the helm. The Knicks will be exciting at times, but we're Atlanta. This is as far as we go. There's a difference between a San Antonio, a Boston, an LA and New York. There's a huge difference.

man, do i feel you. i just have to cut myself out. stop deluding myself. this team is destined for doom. spot on with the melo stuff. he doesn't see that what he's doing isn't working.

I wonder if the Knicks even thought to communicate with Lin's agent and simply say:

"Obviously we don't know whether your client wants to return to the Knicks and we certainly do want him back. And we know you can get more from another team than you can from us so it's perfectly reasonable and the right thing to do for you to shop around the league for a better deal than the Knicks can offer you."

"But so we are clear, a $15M balloon payment in the third year is not workable for us. Our owner has drawn a line because of the big contracts on our books in year 3 and because of the new luxury tax. So I want to make that clear."

"Good luck, let us know what offer you get and what you decide."

Then at least Lin knows the deal and if he really wants NY, maybe he takes that first offer sheet from Houston and not the second one.

I am guessing strongly that no such communication was made to Lin and that is gross incompetence.

Return to New York Knicks
