Exactly. And from what I've gathered, Rob is aiming for 2014 cap space.

No. They just see jameer nelson and they overreact.

When you look at from this angle it does make sense, most people are looking $$$ signs for this contract, but since that 3rd year isn't guaranteed it seems like Henny isn't too worried about Jameer's contract and has a plan. People really need to relax about the deal he got and realize the roster is being flipped upside down and inside out.

Remember, if it's any player not named Dwight we under rate, if it's another teams SCRUB we over rate. That's the way it works around here.

Don't see how that's funny. He's just building a bad reputation around the league. Wasting other peoples time is not a good way to start you GM career. You want a good relationship with other teams around the league.

Jameer started slow last year, but finished off the season producing decent numbers. Overpaid? Sure, a little bit. But not to the degree that deserves the overreaction people are having. And yes, he's still a good player.

At least respond with facts instead of pictures. Jameer was actuated pretty good after a slow start. He also played well in the po's so not sure what youre "laughing" at.

Also, once Dwight went down with the injury, he averaged about 17 PPG and 9 APG. He really stepped up once Dwight was out.
Not changing this Sig until the Orlando Magic win a championship (Technically Started 1-30-08)

But he isn't as good as Chris paul so that makes him a bad pg. The short sightedness around here amazes me. The only thing they see is his slow start.

Typical, season before last theyd manage to pull their heads out of their ass when jameer had a bad game, sticking it back up there until his next bad game.

Said it before, say it again, - cap floor. If we start shedding guys like J-Rich, BBD or Hedo alongside the $19.5m Dwight is owed in a trade, and repopulating our roster with guys on rookie deals (which seems to be what Henny wants) having a guy like Jameer who is overpaid is going to be a necessity just to reach the NBA's minimum salary spend. And he's deal doesn't seem to be that bad, in that yes, he's overpaid, but at least it's short (3 years, and you just know Otis would have been thinking four or five), and the last year is only partially guaranteed.

Why does anyone say he is overpaid? Jameer has been an amazing member and teammate for the Orlando Magic. He hasn't been a player we have regretted having. At least the smart people think that. He had led teambuilding camps every summer to help out and has been a positive influence all around. I would LOVE for us to be good enough and have him as our 6th man. He would be an amazing spark off the bench and against others backups. So I am not saying he should be the starter. Bu I do feel he is worth the money he is being paid! IMO at least haha.

Josh Robbins ‏@JoshuaBRobbins
If the Magic keep D12 thru end of 12-13 season, the team still wouldn't be able to sign a max FA to pair w/him unless ...

Josh Robbins ‏@JoshuaBRobbins
... the Magic jettison other salaries. The reason is that, even as a free agent, Dwight would have a "cap hold."

Yeesh never thought I'd see a GM destroy a team as bad as Otis did. All the lack of talent, big contracts, no draft picks....it's an ugly situation.

Anytime you can get a perennial 12 and 6 guy on the wrong side of 30 for nearly 8 figures a year, you have to do it.

Next off-season Duhon and Turk only have semi-guaranteed contracts, so that will help, if D12 changes his mind again.

According to the Denton link above - "If the Magic can’t clear any existing salary off their books, they will have approximately $18.6 million to spend on free agents next summer"

That's a MAX, no?

Ok. So Henny is building a bad reputation already hahaha. Are you seriously saying that? He has great relationships with the Spurs and OKC and I am sure he is just fine. If other GM's are going to be mad at Henny because he wants to do whats best for the MAGIC then its what do you want him to do? Just trade the best center in the league to make THEM happy lol. His job is to do whats best for HIS team. Not worry about what other GM's think. Its not his fault if other teams make moves to try and go after a star player. Every GM in this league should be trying to do whats best for there teams as well. If they aren't then they will probably be out of a job before long.....

Good point. Not sure if Robbins' calculation includes the potential buyouts. I'm not a cap hold savy person so I'm going to leave that to the other experts on the board to calculate for us lol.
